Known for the great variety of their catalog, both in genres and territories, Eccho Rights was present at Mipcom 2024 to display their fiction novelties for the international market, starting with their big star for the market: Safe Harbor, which had its own screening during the market in Cannes.

“It’s the new series from the co-creator of Ozark, Mark Williams,” Violeta Trincado Murugarren, Sales Coordinator for Latam and Iberia at Eccho Rights, began in a conversation with ttvnews.

“It has an incredible cast, with A-list actors,” highlighted the executive, referring to Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones, Rogue Heroes), Charlie Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Happy Valley, Halo) and Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones, Sex Education), who play the main characters.

The series follows gifted hacker Tobias (Allen) and his ambitious best friend Marco (Lakemeier), attempting to crack into the tech billionaires club. Marco and Tobias are plucked from quiet darkness and plunged headfirst into the chaos of organized crime when they cross paths with the Irish mob. Leading the family’s operations in Holland are Sloane (Murphy) and her brother Farrell (Gleeson) who enlist Tobias’ and Marco’s services to hack into the security system of Rotterdam harbor — Europe’s largest shipping port — in order to secure the undetected deliveries of drug shipments.

“The story is very good. It reminds me a bit of The Gentleman. Two people who get into a world that is not theirs and it changes their lives, of course,” said the executive.

“We also have another new feature, which is a short series for the Turkish platform TOD, called Beneath the Surface,” added the executive. “The first season has 10 episodes and it is a police thriller that since it was launched on the platform has been number one.”

The show stars one of Turkish drama’s most recognizable faces, Hazal Kaya, as police officer Cihan, who finds herself grappling with a professional and personal crisis when her father is murdered. Compounding her dilemma, she is prohibited from investigating his death herself. Cihan’s growing romantic feelings for her colleague assigned to the case, Metin (played by Çağlar Ertuğrul), become even more complicated when Cihan’s sisters emerge as prime suspects.

“And in the end, it is not known if it was one of them, because the series ends its first season with the crime unsolved,” she said.

Among the new titles for the market, the executive also highlighted Fallen, a supernatural new adult series from Silver Reel, Night Train Media and coproduced by Brazil’s largest video streaming platform Globoplay.

“It has just premiered on Globoplay, who were part of the project from the beginning. The results were very good. It has also already aired on Sky Germany,” she revealed.

Fallen follows the story of Luce, a young woman who is sent to a cult-like rehab facility called Sword & Cross to serve time for a crime she cannot remember committing. Among the other residents she encounters the enigmatic Daniel (Blom) and exasperating but irresistible Cam (Innes), all guests under the watchful eye of the sinister chief doctor Howson (Siddig), and devout twin sisters Miriam and Sophia (Niles). Luce must untangle the mystery of who she is and why she has a connection to Daniel that goes far back beyond their time in the institution. This is a universal love story about a woman who is unaware of the strange powers she wields, and her journey to uncover her true strength.

And in the Turkish drama genre, Eccho Rights also presented The Cost of Lies, produced by O3 Medya for Show TV in Turkey, starring Timuçin Esen (Hekimoglu), Çağlar Ertuğrul (The Shadow Team), Şükran Ovalı (Yargi) and Deniz Baysal (Mrs. Fazilet and Her Daughters).

The series, which premiered on October 21 in Turkey under the local title Kalpazan, follows Adem (Esen) a decent man who provides for his family, dutifully working a modest job at the mint. When one day he innocently creates a special commemorative coin for his son, he is fired from his job, and his life starts to fall apart. At this point, his brother steps in – a charismatic swindler, Kartal (Ertuğrul) spies an opportunity to work with his brother and start counterfeiting money. As Adem’s fortunes change, so too does his life at home and his wife Canan (Ovalı) feels something awaken in her – but is it a longing for the new Adem? Meanwhile, Ayşe (Baysal), a police officer typically concerned with petty crime, crosses paths with Kartal and gets pulled into his world, unable to resist his magnetism.

In addition, the executive highlighted I Am Mother, also produced by O3 Medya for Show TV, which “already had a very good reception, but now sales are starting to take place in Latin America.”

“The ratings continue to grow very well, and its main actress is super well-known in the territory for her role in Woman. This was her comeback to television. This season is super interesting, with a new leading man, and I think the Latam audience will really like it,” said the executive.

Lastly, the distributor presented A Journey to Belong, a new series produced by Royal Pictures for Kanal D in Turkey, which premiered in September under the local title Bizi Birleştiren Hayat, and has been obtaining good audience ratings for the channel.

“Another of the great new releases that has been very well received is A Journey to Belong, which reminds me a lot of Elif, which was also a resounding success in Latam. It tells the story of a little girl who arrives at her grandmother’s house, whom she doesn’t know, and at first she will be a bit like little Heidi who arrives in a world where no one treats her well, but because of her character, the grandmother begins to love her very much,” she explained.

A knock on Mrs. Münevver’s door marks the beginning of the events that will change her life. Yasemin arrives with her five-year-old sister, Mine, and declares that the girl will live there from now on. Münevver, shocked, refuses until she notices a necklace around Mine’s neck and faints. Münevver, who has lost her husband and has become estranged from her daughter (Mine’s mother), is now faced with the arrival of her granddaughter. As old wounds are reopened, secrets begin to surface that threaten to tear the family apart. Will Münevver’s revelations reunite his family or destroy it forever?

A Journey to Belong is written by Berrin Tezcan Dağçınar, directed by Ayhan Özdemir and produced by Saner Ayar and Berkin Kaya for Royal Pictures.
