Latin America’s leading audiovisual market will take place in Buenos Aires from 1 to 5 December 2025.

Ventana Sur – Río de la Plata, co-organized by the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, INCAA, and ACAU, will return to Buenos Aires for its 17ᵗʰ edition, set to take place from 1 to 5 December 2025. This year’s edition will be hosted for the first time at the iconic Palacio Libertad, a historic venue located in the heart of the Argentine capital — an ideal setting for the market’s vibrant meetings, screenings, and networking events.

Founded in 2009 by INCAA and the Marché du Film, Ventana Sur expanded its scope in 2024 with the addition of ACAU as a co-organizer and the launch of its first-ever edition in Montevideo, Uruguay. This evolution marked the beginning of the “Río de la Plata” format, which now sees the market alternate annually between Argentina and Uruguay — a model that reinforces the market’s regional impact and injects renewed energy into its development.

Following the impressive success of the 2024 edition in Montevideo, Uruguay, the return to Buenos Aires underscores the shared commitment of the Marché du Film, INCAA, and ACAU to foster deeper connections between Latin America and the global industry, while creating new platforms to amplify regional voices and talent. All programs and activities are co-developed in close collaboration by all three partner institutions.

Since its creation, Ventana Sur has become a key destination for audiovisual professionals, bringing together around 3,000 participants each year, including 300 buyers and sellers from LATAM and around the world. Through its tailored sections, the market showcases a bold new generation of diverse and internationally driven projects – many of which go on to premiere at leading international festivals and secure worldwide distribution.

The 2025 edition will continue to grow its support for emerging talent and foster long-term collaboration between Latin America and the world, further establishing Ventana Sur as a vital platform for the global film and audiovisual industry.

Guillaume Esmiol, Executive Director of the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes, commented: “Ventana Sur has become a vital bridge between Latin America and the global industry, a space where deals are made, new projects are discovered, and lasting partnerships are forged. As co-organizers, we’re proud to contribute our international network and market expertise to help drive the continued growth of this unique event. We look forward to delivering an ambitious and impactful edition in Buenos Aires.”

Carlos Pirovano, President of National Institute of Cinema & Audiovisual Arts of Argentina (INCAA): “We are thrilled to bring Ventana Sur back to Argentina for its 17th edition, reaffirming our country’s central role as a hub of creativity and innovation in the global audiovisual landscape. This year, under the expert leadership of our Executive Director, Ralph Haiek—a seasoned professional with deep industry connections and a proven track record—we are poised to elevate the market to new heights. With Ralph Haiek at the helm, this return to Buenos Aires will not only celebrate Latin American talent but also strengthen our ties with the international community, making Ventana Sur an unmissable event for all.”

Gisela Previtali, President of the Uruguayan Film & Audiovisual Agency (ACAU): “An event of this caliber is key to establishing connections with other film industries, which can lead to international co-productions, access to external financing, and distribution in new markets. Welcoming participants from various countries to the Río de la Plata, in our shared home with Argentina, is a great showcase for promoting our professionals and paving the way for our stories. Supporting Ventana Sur for yet another year also demonstrates the consolidation of audiovisual public policies that Uruguay has been developing over time and reflects the country’s commitment to the growth of the sector.”
