Uruguayan channel Canal 4 confirmed that the culinary competition reality show will premiere during the second half of 2021.
Canal 4 in Uruguay continues to bet on the adaptation of international formats on its screen.
Now it’s the turn of its local version of The Great British Bake Off, the BBC Studios culinary competition reality show, which is already in pre-production.
“We believe that it is a very appropriate format for the level of production that we have been growing in the channel. We started first with PH, then more in entertainment with Los 8 steps and this is one more step we want to take”, Mariano Mosca, Channel 4 Marketing Manager, told ttvnews.
“Bake Off is a very appropriate format for this pandemic context, because there are many possibilities in everything that is gastronomic. It is a program for almost all audiences, even the youngest, which is a way to bring them back to television,” he added.
For this first season, the production of the local version will be in charge of the production company Metrópolis Films.
Bake Off seeks to discover the best pastry chef in the country through a series of weekly challenges, which, at the end of each episode, end with one elimination.
“We think it is an excellent opportunity to partner with the BBC, given the quality standards that are demanded. We believe that it is very good for us to work under this guideline and also the commercial opportunities that a brand like Bake Off generates for us at the level of the channel’s online store and everything that it would generate,” Mosca concluded.
The reality show will premiere in the second half of the year, thus consolidating a line of successful international formats in prime time, as it has already done with PH Uruguay (ViacomCBS), Los 8 escalones (Ktz Entertainment Argentina) and Dinner with Mom. (Banijay Rights).
