The historical drama, produced by Dopamine and Sony Pictures Television, was acquired by broadcast TV channel Bibel TV, which will premiere it on May 5 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
After negotiations held at Miptv 2022, TV Azteca Internacional signed an agreement with broadcast television channel Bibel TV through which the fiction series María Magdalena will be broadcast in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, in prime time, starting on May 5.
María Magdalena, co-produced by Dopamine and Sony Pictures Television, is a sixty-episode historical drama that recreates the life of a passionate woman in a time of oppression, unlike any other, who defies the laws of a corrupt and male-dominated society. After a series of betrayals, she is forced to run away to try to forget her past. On the eve of her death in the desert, she meets Jesus, who will make her understand the meaning of a pure and impossible love, which will restore her faith and the will to live. It is the story of a rejected woman who becomes the most important disciple of the Nazarene prophet.
Regarding the sale made to the German channel, with more than 10 years of experience, Giuliana Alberto, TV Azteca Sales Representative for Asia, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, and part of Europe, comments: “The German market is complex and selective, that is why we are happy that the series Maria Magdalena is broadcast on broadcast TV in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. We are sure that it will be the first of several agreements that will be closed in the territory.”
Dulce Ávila, Sales Manager of TV Azteca Internacional, declared: “At TV Azteca we are very happy to close the first agreement with Germany for the sale of this super production because it reflects the current woman, empowered and with very current problems.”
The series will be available on Bible TV, which broadcasts newsworthy and entertaining programs related to the Christian faith, every Thursday, beginning May 5 at 8:15 p.m.
