Ahead of Mipcom 2021, Laszlo Fulop, Acquisitions and Contract Manager at AMC Networks, spoke to TTV+ about the content he’s looking for in the international market.
TTVMedia, through its TTV+ platform and backed by Eccho Rights, presents its Buyers: What Are They Looking For? initiative to find out more about international buyers’ programming needs.
The interviews were conducted through the base of over 5,000 buyers registered on TTV+, a 24/7 online marketplace where buyers can look through catalogs from thousands of companies, and in which distributors can contact them to close businesses.
This time, we present Laszlo Fulop, Acquisitions and Contract Manager at AMC Networks.
Which kid of content are you looking for?
Animated series and movies for our two kids channels, Minimax and JimJam, with completely separate libraries which cover the 2 to 12 age group.
What kind of ideas and stories are you looking for?
For our Minimax channel, we are looking for unisex comedy adventure animated series and well-known brands, in addition to our existing brands, and series that nurture the child’s independence, curiosity and desire for adventure. On the other hand we are also looking for play and learn content for toddlers, with instructive lessons and constructive notes for our JimJam channel.
What should a format or fiction have to catch your eye?
Sometimes a good brand, an interesting story or a spectacular teaser is enough to peak our interest, but it has to fit perfectly into our target group and we need to be able to imagine the future content on our channel alongside the other titles and the library as well.
Is there any particular content that has caught your attention during the last year?
There are plenty of great new contents on the market for kids. It’s really good to be a kid these days. If I had to pick one, it would be the funny Go Away, Unicorn!, that the whole team liked from the very first moment, and this happened with the lovely Ricky Zoom too, which is incredibly popular in every region.
Any particular content that you acquired that worked on your screen?
The Robocar Poli and Kate and Mim-Mim series worked ver well on our JimJam channel, while Masha and the Bear is one of our most popular titles on the Minimax channel, where the lastest fifth season arrived this year, just like Wild Kratts our other popular series with season six.
