In an industry as evolving as the entertainment industry, it is imperative to stay one step ahead of the latest trends and know what the international market demands regarding content.
To this end, ttvnews presents the Buyers: What are buyers looking for? initiative to learn first-hand about the programming needs of buyers around the world.
This time, we spoke to Israel Rojas, representative of Rating Entertainment of the Dominican Republic:
What type of content does your audience demand the most?
I represent Rating Entertainment, we are a content acquisition company in the Dominican Republic, and we have a strategic partnership with Channel 9 in the Dominican Republic.
We program several slots on the channel, specifically in the telenovela genre, which is the one that, let’s say, is the channel’s second most important genre in terms of market share.
What kind of content or formats or genres do you go after at industry events?
We travel to markets to analyze dramatic content. We see a lot of betting, a lot of content, a lot of supply, and we expect the market to continue to develop in a more diversified way as we have seen so far.
Where do you see the greatest growth potential for the company today, and how is this reflected in your programming strategy?
Canal 9 has a very good market share, and we have been working with them for about 10 years now. The channel’s most important genre is news, followed by entertainment and telenovelas.
Our partnership has existed for several years, and we continue to work with them. So far we have created a very important strategic partnership in terms of business.
