TTVNews celebrates its first 20 years by inviting friends and industry colleagues to share their personal experiences over the past two decades. Pablo Mancuso, Condista International Distribution General Manager, answers, “Where were you 20 years ago?”
This 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of TTVNews, a big reason to celebrate for the group, which is consolidating itself as one of the go-to media platforms in the audiovisual industry in Latin America.
And to mark the occasion, we’ve invited friends and colleagues to share their experiences, challenges, and lessons learned over the last 20 years in this industry.
This time, Pablo Mancuso, Condista International Distribution General Manager, answers, “Where were you 20 years ago?”
Where were you 20 years ago?
The good thing is that I can answer that I was already in the industry practically 20 years ago. I’m 42 now, and I was 22 at that time. I was working in Accion Group, a company similar to Condista led by my father, Alberto Mancuso. We were the agents for Spanish television in the southern cone, and we had other products.
At that time, I had already been working in the industry for two years. I was dedicated more to the technical part; I was managing the inventory of decoders, habilitating, logistics, and shipments of decoders, and little by little, I was starting to get into sales. But the truth is that I was still doing the equipment, technology, and some junior work in banks. I was going to get checks because the cable operators still paid us with checks, and I had to look for the checks and do the banking procedures. So I can say that I still had a great time then.
What was your first industry event?
The first event I attended in the industry was a regional meeting by Jorge Jacobi in Rosario. It was one of the first events I can remember, and later, I remember the Jornadas in Buenos Aires, which was already a major event. This coincided with a time in the industry when there were a lot of shows, going to see giant stands and celebrities taking bags with gifts. For my age, it was a lot of fun, good parties.
