TIS Studios is proud to announce the international distribution of Cosiaca, a historical fiction series based on true events that humorously and sharply revives one of the most iconic characters of 19th-century Colombian culture.

Directed by the award-winning filmmaker Luis Alberto Restrepo (Peto), the series features a top-tier cast led by Jhon Alex Toro in the starring role, alongside renowned actors such as Robinson Díaz, Amparo Grisales, Ramiro Meneses, Santiago Alarcón, María Cecilia Botero, Luis Mesa, Vicky Hernández, and more.

Inspired by real events and oral tradition, Cosiaca portrays the life of José María García, a 19th-century folk character who, armed only with his irreverent wit, roamed the towns of Antioquia while questioning the values of his time with humor and authenticity. Cosiaca represents defiance against the established order, with laughter as his banner.

The series includes 12 half-hour episodes, plus a special behind-the-scenes feature.

With meticulous aesthetics and a contemporary narrative approach, the series offers a unique perspective on Colombia’s cultural, political, and urban transformation at the end of the 19th century. A work that blends folkloric humor, history, and social critique, in a style reminiscent of classic tales of global picaresque literature.

TIS Studios will be attending LA Screenings Independents with its CEO Samuel Duque and Alejandro Toro, VP of Commercial & Business Strategy, on May 15 and 16 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
