Spanish animation projects Limbo VIlle, Titan Tofu, and All Good will be presented during the traditional pitch sessions.

During the next edition of Cartoon Forum, which will take place from September 16 to 19 at the Pierre Baudis Congress Center in Toulouse, the Spanish animation projects Limbo VIlle, Titan Tofu, and All Good will be presented during the traditional pitch sessions. Televisió de Catalunya, Pikkukala, and Mondo TV Studios have been nominated for the Cartoon Forum Tributes 2024.

With the support of ICEX and its brand for promoting Spanish animation, Animation From Spain, the Spanish presence will include a large delegation of animation producers during the next edition of Cartoon Forum, the largest European co-production meeting for animated series.

In addition to the large Spanish delegation participating, three projects have been officially selected for the Cartoon Forum Pitch sessions:

Limbo Ville, 26×11′ (Children 6 to 9 years old) by Mago Production, which already successfully participated in the pitch session “Women in Animation from Spain” at the Annecy Festival in 2023. Titan Tofu, 26×7′ (Preschool 2 to 4 years old) by producers Uniko Estudio Creativo and Abano Producións and All Good, 10×22′ (Young Adults / Adults) presented by producer GLOW, which was also presented at the Cartoon Springboard during its last edition in October 2023 in Madrid.

It is noteworthy that of the three selected projects, two have been created by women. In this case, María Luquero is the author of Titan Tofu and Pilar, and Raquel Maestre is the author of Limbo Ville. In the case of All Good, two emerging talents, Diego Porral and Joaquín Garralda, will defend their authorship before the large audience of Cartoon Forum.

In addition, during the next edition of Cartoon Forum, the umbrella brand of Spanish animation, Animation from Spain, will continue to present a new promotional video for Spanish animation and the latest edition of “Animation From Spain Who is Who 2024,” a publication that provides a complete overview of the Spanish animation industry.

Agenda of the Pitch sessions

Limbo Ville, 26×11′ (Kids 6 to 9 years old)

Pitch: Tuesday, September 17: 3 pm (Pink Room)

Alex, a teenager who has just lost her mother, begins working with her godmother at a real estate agency for ghosts. At the same time, she investigates whether her mother’s ghosts have also become ghosts after passing away. This is an original and spooky adventure!

All Good, 10×22′ (Young Adults / Adults)

Pitch: Wednesday, September 18: 12 am (Blue Room)

All Good is an animated comedy that follows the adventures of Simon Gonzales, a proud but naive plunger whose daily life is hindered by eccentric colleagues, a charismatic new intern, and a family crisis. With various ego clashes, awkward situations, and existential angst, Simon embarks on a hilarious journey of self-discovery.

Titan Tofu, 26×7′ (Preschool 2-4 years)

Pitch: Wednesday, September 18: 4 pm (Purple Room)

In a curious world that grows along with its characters, three somewhat misplaced creatures face the most significant discovery of their lives each day: their selves. Follow the daily life of Titan, an unstable and undisciplined creature who hides everything he doesn’t like – like tofu! He hates it. He hides it so well that it has come to life and become his best friend forever, Tofu, a little emotional queen. This curious relationship makes them inseparable, but since eight eyes always see better than five, the team is not complete until Pepe appears. A penguin-bird who is a little lost but eager to find himself.

Through the Animation from Spain brand, ICEX will continue strengthening its collaboration with the Cartoon organization by supporting the next edition of Cartoon Springboard. This training seminar and pitching event, aimed at young animation talent, will be held October 29-31 in Madrid.

Cartoon Forum Tributes 2024 nominees

European animation will reward its most outstanding figures of the year at the Cartoon Forum Tributes, which will be held on September 19 in Toulouse. The nearly 1,000 professionals attending Cartoon Forum will vote on the winners in the three categories—Broadcaster, Investor/Distributor, and Producer of the Year.

Three Spanish companies are among the 12 finalists from eight countries: Televisió de Catalunya—TVC is up for Broadcaster of the Year, while animation studio Pikkukala and distributor/producer Mondo TV Studios are competing in the Producer and Investor/Distributor of the Year categories, respectively.

Televisió de Catalunya – TVC was nominated in the Broadcaster of the Year category along with ARTE (France-Germany), Radio Télévision Suisse – RTS (Switzerland), and Radio Televizija Slovenija – RTV (Slovenia), confirming the importance of public broadcasters in the production and broadcasting of European animation. Catalan public television offers early childhood, infancy, and adolescence content through its SX3 channel and online. It has also participated as a co-producer in internationally renowned animated series such as Las Tres Mellizas, Ask Lara, and Jasmine & Jambo.

The Investor/Distributor of the Year category will be contested by Spain’s Mondo TV Studios, France’s Madrigall Group, Prime Entertainment Group, and Germany’s ZDF Studios. A subsidiary of Squirrel Media, Mondo TV Studios is engaged in distributing and producing content and providing 2D and 3D animation services. Monster Loving Maniacs, Annie & Carola, and Bat Pat are some of the series in its catalog that Cartoon Forum has developed.

Finally, Pikkukala (Finland – Spain) is competing for the Producer of the Year award along with Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Movimenti Production (Italy), and Sacrebleu Productions (France). Founded in Helsinki by Veronica Lassenius and Pablo Jordi, Pikkukala produces animated series for children and family audiences. In 2018, the company landed in Spain with Pikkukala Barcelona, a studio focused on producing animated series and films from which titles such as My Real Neighbors, Taste Buddies, and Saari have emerged. The company has also participated as a co-producer in series such as Samuel and Froggie.
