The event, organized by LAAPIP and TTVNews, and sponsored by LaLiga, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment and the Alliance against Audiovisual Piracy, will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Quito.

On Wednesday, March 8, the twenty-eighth edition of the Anti-Piracy Summit (Summit Antipiratería) will take place in Quito, Ecuador, at the JW Marriott Hotel.

The event is organized by LAAPIP (Latin America Anti-Piracy & Intellectual Property Consulting), and TTVNews, with the sponsorship of LaLiga, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) and the Alliance Against Audiovisual Piracy.

The event will feature Carlos Del Campo, Deputy Director of the Presidency of LaLiga, Guillermo Rodríguez Fernández, Director of Anti-Piracy Operations of LaLiga Tech and Juan Rotger, Global Content Protection Manager of LaLiga; as well as Ana Sousa, Director of Strategic Relations of the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE).

Under the motto “Intellectual property facing the challenge of piracy and counterfeiting in the digital environment”, the event will bring together local authorities and intellectual property rights owners.

“One of the biggest challenges that exists in terms of intellectual property is the protection of audiovisual brands, products and services, since they are counterfeited and sold illegally on websites, marketplaces and applications without paying duties and taxes”, explained Francisco Escutia, CEO of LAAPIP.

And he added: “Ecuador has done an exceptional job in recent years in the fight against online piracy, and with the application of the Parlatino Model Law. However, it is important to continue protecting Intellectual Property, since it is very vulnerable in the digital environment and requires coordination between the public and private sectors, all authorities and all industries”.
