The television consultancy firm selected the 16 most outstanding unscripted premieres of March around the world. This time, Spanish documentaries Rocío, contar la verdad para seguir viva, by Telecinco, and Nevenka, by Netflix stand out.
The television consulting firm Teleformat exclusively revealed to ttvnews its selection of the most prominent formats for March.
The list consists of the premieres made during the last month in the main television markets around the world.
On this occasion, productions from the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Japan, the United States or China are included with new ideas that have had a local impact or new adaptations of formats that continue to make people talk in new markets.
In addition, two formats from Spain stand out in the list: Rocío, contar la verdad para seguir viva, by Telecinco and the Netflix documentary, Nevenka.

Drawers Off
Drawers Off is a contest with elements of reality, of 20 installments, that arises as a competition between amateur portrait artists. Issued from Monday to Friday and with five participants each week, one of them in each installment must pose for his companions, who show off his skills and talent by portraying him in the best way they know how. While the competitor in question poses, his fellow artists must display a different technique for each masterpiece they create, from charcoal and oil to collage or mixed media, all supervised by visual artist and art curator Diana Ali. At the end of the broadcast, the model of that day values each work without knowing who the author is. It is entirely up to them whether they judge the portraits on their artistic merits, or whether they are flattered or offended by how their opponents view them. On Friday, the highest rated artist of the five contestants for the week takes home a cash prize. The show is hosted by comedian Jenny Eclair.

Huis Gemaakt
Huis Gemaakt (Home Made) is a reality-based contest in which nine young couples face the challenge of renovating and refurbishing three vacant houses, located in different locations in Flanders (three couples per house). The presenter Dina Tersago accompanies the candidates during the project. An expert jury, made up of an interior designer and a successful businessman, offers her help and finally decides which duo wins their own home.

Nevenka
Nevenka is a three-episode documentary about the first sentence of a politician for sexual abuse in Spain, produced by Newtral (a company founded by the presenter Ana Pastor). The documentary reviews the story of Nevenka Fernández who in 2001 filed a complaint in the Superior Court of Justice and León against Ismael Álvarez, a colleague from a municipal group and mayor of the town. It was a very notorious case that set a precedent in Spanish justice. The sentence came in November 2003, the first conviction of a political charge for this crime. Justice forced him to pay a fine of 6,480 euros and to compensate Nevenka with 12,000 euros.

DNA Journey

The latter do their best to divide the group without being discovered, and every night they “murder” a comrade. Every day, a voting council is held in which celebrities try to expose traitors.

Wei Ge Er Zan (Praising Songs) is a talent contest in which 30 groups of singers face each other in a competition consisting of singing popular songs on the Tik Tok app, as well as new songs from the artists who popularized them. The program has two juries, one called the “100 Praise Team”, made up of 100 music lovers, and another called the “High Praise Team,” made up of six famous Tik Tok influencers. The votes of both juries determine the winning song. At the same time, the Tik Tok platform recreate the songs of this format.

GEWOON. BLOOT. (Simply. Naked.) Is the local version of the Danish format Ultra smider tøjet, premiered on the DR Ultra channel in May 2019. It is an eight-part educational program in which five adult volunteers show their naked bodies to a group of 11-12 year old children present on the set. What characterizes these bodies is their diversity (different sizes, heights, colors, ages, etc.), since the purpose is to help dissociate beauty standards. After a brief introduction, the models take off their bathrobes and are exposed before the children’s eyes so that they can ask them all the questions that occur to them. Rocío, contar la verdad para seguir viva is a documentary series with interview elements that collects, for the first time after years of silence, the testimony of Rocío Carrasco Jurado, daughter of the singer Rocío Jurado and famous for her controversial relationship with the former civil guard Antonio David Flores, starring on the two covers of the magazines of the heart for much of their lives. After her ex-husband and father of her two children toured the television sets telling his version of the relationship between them and their family situation, now Rocío reappears telling her own truth, providing a totally opposite version of events and unleashing the controversy and the headlines of the pink press. Each week two chapters of the documentary are broadcast, preceded, followed and interrupted by debate on the set with invited collaborators. In the documentary part itself, Rocío appears sitting in front of a projector that reviews moments of her life while she narrates the events that marked her as a person, as a mother and as a woman.
