Neal Mohan, until now CPO of the company, is the new CEO

With a post on the official YouTube blog, Susan Wojcicky announced that she was leaving the position of CEO of the Google video platform, a position she had held since 2014.

In the post, which was previously shared internally with YouTube employees, Wojcicki celebrated her career: “Twenty-five years ago I made the decision to join a couple of Stanford graduate students who were building a new search engine. Their names were Larry and Sergey,” in reference to the creators of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

“I saw the potential of what they were building, which was incredibly exciting, and although the company had only a few users and no revenue, I decided to join the team,” the executive said.

Wojcicki, who will continue in an advisory role at Google and Alphabet, said she was leaving to focus on her family, her health and her personal projects.

Neal Mohan, until now CPO of YouTube, will be the new CEO.
