The Spanish production was crowned the winner of the 2023 edition of the event on Miptv, together with the Scandinavian Prison project Little Scandinavia, from SVT.
The organization of Miptv announced the winners of the inaugural edition of the Mipdoc International Buyer Screenings, which took place this Sunday, April 16, in Cannes.
The event’s Coup de Coeur award was split between two productions.
On the one hand, the Spanish La caravana, by Cabal Films, the only representative of the Hispanic world.
On the other, the Scandinavian Prison project Little Scandinavia, by SVT.
The caravan is a co-production of Cabal Films, with Trueday Films and the support of Zafiro Cinema and Terco Producciones.
Directed by Núria Clavero and Aitor Palacios, it recounts the journey of Yuri, eight months pregnant, her son Santi and her partner Mike, who are fleeing Honduras with the first caravan of migrants. Determined that her baby be born in the United States, along with 7,000 other people, they escape the violence and poverty that prevails in Central America.
