Owners of an immense catalogue of Turkish dramas and high-level productions, Kanal D International made its way to a new edition of Mipcom in Cannes to present its new releases to the international market, led by two great dramas.
“We are back at Mipcom, with two new titles,” Sibel Levendoglu, Sales Manager, Latam & US, Iberia and Africa at Kanal D International, began in a conversation with ttvnews.
The first is The Family Burden, produced by Surec Film and currently airing in Turkey.
“It’s a story about a woman who is accused of killing her husband – which is not true – and she also just had a baby. She goes to jail and is forced to leave her baby with her sister. Once she is there, the sister also has a baby. The story begins when after 20 years she gets out of jail and wants to get her life back on track. It turns out that the girl she gave to her sister, the sister sold her to a rich family. When she had her baby, she presented it as her sister’s baby. They kept up this lie for 20 years. The girl went to jail to see her as if she were her daughter. When she gets out of jail, all these secrets start coming to light. Who killed her husband? Where is her real daughter?” explained the executive.
And the other big news is My Mother’s Tale, produced by BKM, which will be released next November.
“It’s a story about a woman who has three children. When she’s pregnant with her third child, she realizes that her husband is unfaithful. Since it’s the 90s, they don’t get divorced that easily. So she’ll have to decide whether to save her marriage or become independent and be a single mother. This story is told by that third child,” revealed the executive.
“We’re very excited about this series. It’s a strong story, produced by ourselves. We’re waiting for it with great anticipation and here we’re giving a little glimpse,” she added.
These two new titles are added to its large catalog for the international market, with series such as Secret of Pearls, A Father’s Promise, Daylight, Farewell Letter, Three Sisters or That Girl.
