In the following interview with ttvnews, Javier Quevedo, Head of International Commercial Strategy at RTVE, talks about the titles they are presenting in Hungary and their main objectives for the event.
Led by highly successful series, both in Spain and internationally, RTVE’s catalog is optimally positioned to continue expanding beyond its borders and conquer new screens worldwide.
With this objective in mind, the Spanish group made its way to Hungary for the latest edition of Natpe Budapest, where they are presenting their latest fiction offerings, with series such as Ena, Asuntos Internos, Las Abogadas, La Promesa, and La Moderna, as well as documentaries on current topics such as Artificial Intelligence.
In an interview with ttvnews, Javier Quevedo, Head of International Commercial Strategy at RTVE, reviews the group’s new portfolio for the market and its objectives for the event, which is presented as “an important event” in the annual calendar.
What motivated RTVE to participate in Natpe Budapest 2025?
Natpe Budapest continues to be an important event for RTVE in our events calendar. It is a well-established event with a high participation of strong buyers/players within the region.
What will be the main objective of your presence at the event?
On the one hand, the priority objective is to make new contacts and present our new products. On the other hand, to continue the relationship and conversations with those players we already know, as well as to bring to RTVE any co-production opportunities that may arise during our participation.
What titles or projects will you present at this edition?
Major fiction series, daily series and fiction for young audiences, the best entertainment, and great documentaries will make up the catalog that RTVE’s international sales team will present.
Among the new prime-time fiction series we are presenting in Budapest are Ena, Asuntos Internos, and Las Abogadas.
Ena is the story of a queen and also of a woman. Of a young English woman who had never dreamed of being queen of Spain. King Alfonso XIII of Spain set his sights on her, a choice that upset his mother. On the journey, she left behind her family, her customs, her culture, and had to renounce her religion to live in a foreign land. Her first experience was an attack on her wedding day, which claimed dozens of lives.
Asuntos internos is a thriller full of intrigue, tension, action, and drama that, over six chapters, takes viewers to a police station in a working-class neighborhood where Clara, an officer from the first class of women in the police force, arrives at her first assignment and discovers a corruption network based on heroin trafficking, which she confronts with the help of two other women affected by drug use. The creators of the series were awarded the RTVE Prize at Conecta Fiction.
Las Abogadas: Created by Patricia Ferreira, this fiction series inspired by true events transports us to 1960s and 1970s Spain, in the final throes of the Franco dictatorship, to follow the struggle of Lola González, Cristina Almeida, Paca Sauquillo, and Manuela Carmena, friends and labor lawyers who, through law, changed a country. Paula Usero, Irene Escolar, Elisabet Casanovas, and Almudena Pascual star in the series.
We also feature daily series such as La Promesa, an International Emmy Award-winning drama about a young woman who arrives at La Promesa Palace to work as a maid and seeks revenge for the death of her mother and the kidnapping of her brother; and La Moderna, which tells the story of Matilde, a young woman who gets a job at the La Moderna Tea Room, a distinguished meeting place in 1930s Madrid that portrays a time of great transformation. This series was a finalist for the International Emmy Awards.
Finally, documentaries focused on true crime, such as SAC, and on artificial intelligence, such as Alter Ego, complete our lineup for this market.
