On March 24 in the US and Mexico, Rivit TV will be launched as a new OTT in which viewers get to decide which pilots will be turned into series and how much they’re willing to pay for them.
March 24 will mark the launch in Mexico and the US of Rivit TV, a new OTT platform with the motto “Choose the TV that Gets Made”.
Kickstarter-style, Rivit TV is a sort of crowdfunding source for TV, with a clear focus on the Hispanic audience in which the platform’s users can choose which pilots will get the green light and how much they’re willing to pay for them.
Thus, a user votes for a pilot and sets the price they would pay for each episode (options range from $ 0.99 to $ 2.99 per episode; the proposed series have up to 20 episodes).
The financing window will be open for 50 days and once the goal is reached, the series is produced. If the financial goal is exceeded, users will pay even less than they had promised.
In addition, if other series also receive the green light, users who have financed other projects will also have access to them (up to two extra, with the slogan pay for one and receive two free).
At launch, the platform will have three pilots: Coyote Hills, La Leona and Fabric of Lies.
Rivit TV has no subscription fee and was cofunded by Wade Bradley, its CEO, and Adam Shaw.
