The three most relevant Movistar Plus+ titles were presented at the LA Screenings as part of the company’s strategy to bring its most successful content to Latin America. The thriller Marbella is one of the platform’s most outstanding and best-performing titles, along with Segunda Muerte and Muertos SL.
This was confirmed to ttvnews by Rebeca Aguilar, Director of Distribution at Movistar Plus+, who commented that they are very happy to bring three titles that are very relevant to the platform. “The first is Marbella, a series of six 50-minute episodes. It is an action thriller with high production values and gives us excellent results. It is being very well received in this market,” she said.
On the other hand, the executive mentioned that they have brought Segunda muerte. “This is typical investigative content, which has all the ingredients to hook the Latin audience, with very beautiful scenarios in the north of Spain and with very recognizable characters,” she highlighted.
As a third option, they bring Muertos SL. “It is a comedy of eight 30-minute episodes created by Alberto and Laura Caballero, an indisputable talent. It is a delirious comedy that deals with the employees of a funeral home and their problems. It is very funny, and we have already confirmed the second season,” said Aguilar.
According to the executive, the Spanish platform tries to have a bit of all genres, but the quality of the people they work with is above the selection of genres. “The talent behind them is more important; if we believe in the idea, it goes beyond the genre line because it creates a creative link between director and producer.”
As for post-summer releases, Aguilar announced that they will launch Querer, a four-episode series with Alauda Ruiz de Azúa. “She is an excellent director, and we are excited to have her for the first time doing a series. We are very happy to have such a sophisticated talent as hers.”
“By the end of the year, we are bringing Los años nuevos, a co-production with shooting in Spain, France, and Germany. It is a love story and a couple’s relationship for a decade; it is a production that we believe will have a huge impact internationally. The director is Rodrigo Sorogoyen, and the characters have a character and personality that people will love,” concluded the executive.
