Querer is a Movistar Plus+ original series with Feelgood Media and Kowalski Films. It will premiere on the streaming platform in October.

Movistar Plus+ informed that its original series Querer, will have its world premiere during the San Sebastian Festival (September 20-28), as part of the Official Selection of the 72nd edition of the great event in San Sebastian.

Querer is the first TV series directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa and will premiere on the streaming platform in October. The Spanish director is considered one of the most promising of the moment after winning the Goya for Best New Director for Cinco Lobitos (a film that won three Goyas). Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, Eduard Sola, and Júlia de Paz wrote the scripts for the four series episodes.

Alauda Ruiz de Azúa commented that premiering her first series at Zinemaldia is very special. “Querer was born as a series, but beyond its episodic structure, I always visualized it from a cinematographic point of view. So I feel very honored that its premiere is at Zinemaldia, in that context of love for cinema and in a theater. As a director, that means something magical: to live the story with the audience from the seats and receive at that moment the sensations or emotions that the series provokes in them. In addition, Querer is a series linked to Euskadi from the script to the shooting, and I am excited that the first time we share it with everyone will be in Donosti”.

According to the director, the viewer will find the story of how an accusation of rape blows up a conventional family.

“Miren denounces her husband for rape after 30 years of marriage, and this serious accusation forces her children to choose between their mother or their father. We wanted to push questions about sexual consent to the limit, questioning the viewer as if he or she were a member of that family. Questions that are difficult to answer and an intense emotional journey are posed since the judicial journey goes hand in hand with the family journey,” said Ruiz de Azúa.

The four-episode series stars Nagore Aranburu (Irati, Intimidad, Loreak), Pedro Casablanc (B, la película), Miguel Bernardeau (1899, Élite), Iván Pellicer (Paraíso) and Loreto Mauleón (Los renglones torcidos de Dios, Patria).

After 30 years of marriage and two children together, Miren leaves the marital home and denounces her husband for continuous rape. This serious accusation forces the children to choose between believing their mother or supporting a father who defends his innocence. A family journey that runs parallel to the judicial one with the same objective: to know the truth.
