As VPS of Distribution for LatAm and Country Manager in Colombia of WBD, Patricia Jasin knows firsthand the advantages of the Colombian market, one that perhaps does not always stand out in the region compared to giants like Brazil or Mexico, but which presents great potential for the audiovisual industry.

“Colombia is a very mature audiovisual market, with a lot of audiovisual culture,” the executive began in a conversation with ttvnews, who was present at a new edition of Content Americas in Miami.

“The production possibilities are very good. It is a country that offers a very good incentive plan,” she explained. “We have a local production plan in Latam that is very focused on Mexico and Brazil, which are the most important. But this year we have done interesting things in Colombia,” she added.

In this sense, the executive highlighted the production of a film “that turned out very well,” in addition to several docuseries on local cases. “That allows us to have a lively conversation in the Colombian market, with high-quality, very relevant content,” she said.

“And of course all the WBD content that works super well, like the GOT and House of the Dragon franchises that are a hit in Colombia, series like Friends, etc. It is a market that consumes audiovisual content very well. Like Water for Chocolate was a total success there too,” said the executive.

Thus, the Colombian market is also part of a Latin American audiovisual industry that continues with its ups and downs for a few years, something that WBD has been able to face and overcome.

“Changes in the industry are unpredictable. Audiences change,” said the executive. “As a company we are always on the lookout. We have weekly meetings where we discuss everything. The best thing is to always be on the lookout and have a company that tolerates the flexibility that is needed to be able to anticipate changes,” she concluded.
