ViacomCBS’s new OTT platform is working on a sequel to the hit CBS series, which remains one of the most watched OTT contents on Netflix.
Last week Nielsen published the latest edition of its OTT ranking, which although it was led by the Netflix original Bridgerton, had the series Criminal Minds as the second most watched content on streaming in the US and as the most popular archive series.
Available on Netflix, Criminal Minds is a permanent presence in the Nielsen rankings and, since The Office and Friends left the Netflix catalog, it is the most watched catalog series by Americans.
As it is, it is not surprising that Variety has revealed in the last hours that ViacomCBS is currently working on a revival of the series for its new OTT, Paramount+.
According to Variety, some details remain to be defined, but the idea is that some members of the original cast will return as well as their showrunner and executive producer, Erica Messer.
It would be produced by CBS Studios and ABC Signature.
Criminal Minds debuted in the US in 2005 on CBS. Since then it has been one of the most popular series on the network, which canceled it in February of last year.
The series follows an FBI unit that analyzes the most twisted criminal minds in the country.
