The Mexican actress will star and co-produce original series and films for the Spanish-language streaming service.
Pantaya, the original premium streaming destination for world-class movies and series in Spanish, announced today that it has signed a multiyear overall deal with the illustrious Mexican actress Maite Perroni.
As part of the agreement, which is Pantaya’s first-ever overall deal of its kind, Perroni will star and co-produce original series and films for the company. Films developed as part of this deal will be produced in tandem with Pantelion Films, Pantaya’s partner company.
This overall deal builds on an existing relationship between the widely recognized Latin superstar and the leading Spanish-language streaming platform following Perroni’s current starring role in Pantaya’s original series El Juego de las Llaves which is exclusively available on the platform. She is also the star of the animated film Un Rescate de Huevitos which premiered on the platform on November 12th, the series Herederos por Accidente and the star and associate producer of the film Doblemente Embarazada, which are also available on Pantaya.
Today’s announcement was made by Paul Presburger, CEO of Pantaya and Pantelion.
“It’s such an honor to formalize this partnership with Pantaya and Pantelion Films, after collaborating for so many years on great projects, including the opportunity to be the Pantaya spokesperson at the beginning of their launch eight years ago,” Perroni commented. “I am excited and grateful to get to work with great minds to create powerful and entertaining premium quality content for the Hispanic audience in the U.S. and around the world.”
Presburger added: “Maite is an extraordinary talent, and we are delighted to continue our successful relationship with her. This new partnership highlights the immense growth we’ve had at Pantaya as we expand our slate of content in tandem with leading talent and producers. We can’t wait to collaborate with Maite and share our new programming with our subscribers.”
Perroni won worldwide recognition after starring in the telenovela Rebelde in 2004 and became part of the music phenomenon RBD. Since then, she has become one of the most important Latin stars at an international level as an award-winning actress, singer, host, influencer, and businesswoman who has paved the way for new generations on Hispanic television. One of the “Top 10 Latinas To Watch” by Variety in 2015, she has starred in eight soap operas (Telenovelas) for more than a decade, which have been seen in more than 180 countries around the world with high audience levels, and multiple series for preeminent streaming platforms. Maite has been named one of “The Most Beautiful” by People En Español 13 consecutive times, and is a social media powerhouse with more than 30 million followers across all of her social media platforms.
In addition to El Juego de las Llaves, Herederos por Accidente and Un Rescate de Huevitos, Pantaya is home to a robust content pipeline including series like De Broma en Broma, Mala Yerba (Cannábica), and Ana de la Reguera‘s Ana. Films include Un Rescate de Huevitos, ¿Y como es el? and Miss Granny. Pantaya currently has six series in production as well as eight upcoming series that will launch on the service before year’s end. Furthermore, last month, along with Pantelion, the company signed significant multiyear direct-to-platform deals with prominent production companies El Estudio, The Lift, and Traziende Films. Under the terms of the deal, each company will produce direct-to-platform Spanish-language films to stream in the US exclusively on Pantaya. Additionally, Pantaya recently signed a co-development and production deal with Elefantec Global to create feature films, original series, and other entertainment offerings for Hispanic/Latino audiences as well as a deal with Fremantle and Fabula to develop a slate of eight new series.
