This innovative partnership also includes the production of remakes of acclaimed BH5 Studios titles in Spain.

Onza Americas, the producer behind the successful series Isla Brava on VIX, and BH5 Studios, responsible for some of the biggest box office hits in Mexican history, announce an agreement to collaborate in the development and co-production of new television series.

Onza Americas and BH5 Studios, together with Rodrigo Trujillo, worked on the first season of Isla Brava, and this new agreement was reached during the filming of the second season.

This innovative partnership also includes the production of remakes of acclaimed BH5 Studios titles in Spain.

Both companies are already immersed in developing another joint series project: an exciting drama that explores the complex world of addictions. They are also adapting the script for the Spanish market of Ya veremos, one of BH5 Studios’ major box office hits in Mexico.

BH5 Studios has a solid filmography that includes more than 30 feature films, two of which are among the Top 5 highest-grossing films in Mexican history: Hazlo como Hombre and Ya Veremos. They also have other major Mexican box office hits such as El Mesero, Una Mujer Sin Filtro, and Dulce Familia.

Rodrigo Trujillo, founder of BH5 Studios, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration: “Our first experience working with Onza on the series ‘Isla Brava’ for the VIX platform was exceptional. Their professionalism, values, and commitment to the audiovisual industry align perfectly with our vision. Consolidating this strategic alliance with professionals like Onza strengthens our ability to create and produce quality television series, while also expanding our borders to the Spanish market.”

Onza Americas, a production company targeting the Latin American and US Hispanic markets, was founded in early 2021 by the Spanish company Onza. Their first series, Isla Brava, premiered on VIX last May, becoming the most-watched series on the platform during its first few weeks. The series explores themes of domestic violence in the upper class, forbidden love, mystery, and betrayal. Onza Americas and BH5 Studios are currently filming its highly anticipated second season in Madrid.

According to Gonzalo Sagardía, CEO of Onza: “It is a great pleasure to reach this agreement with Rodrigo and BH5 Studios. Harvey Grisalez and I worked with Rodrigo on the executive production of Isla Brava, and he is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding producers in Mexico. His vision, creativity, and commitment to projects are remarkable, as well as his knowledge of the Mexican market overall.”
