Encripta, a leading Brazilian content distributor, is positioning itself as a key player in Latin America and beyond. With an extensive catalog of films and series and a unique proposition as a dubbing house, Encripta offers content in Spanish, Portuguese, and English adapted for TV channels and streaming platforms.

During LA Screenings in Los Angeles, ttvnews spoke with Nicolae Arnizaut, Licensing Manager, who said they are at this event to sell their content. “For this market, we want to highlight two novelties from our catalog, Fog of War and Mr. K“.

New releases include Fog of War, a war drama centered on fighter pilots starring John Cusack. “It’s a very well-made film. We think audiences are going to love it,” says Arnizaut.

Also of note is Mr. K, a mix of thriller and comedy starring Crispin Glover, promises suspense and fun. In addition, Encripta brings Spanish blockbusters such as House of Fire, which grossed more than US$3 million in theaters in Spain.

For international film lovers, the catalog includes Santos, an Indian film shortlisted for the Oscar, along with new acquisitions from Eastern Europe and Asia. Among them:

The Swap (Czech Republic) – A drama about two babies swapped at birth, already well-received by Brazilian audiences.

A Thai action-crime series, with intense scenes and high production quality.

Prometheus (Russia) – A spy series loaded with tension and unexpected twists.

A Hungarian war drama, emotionally charged and with powerful action scenes.

Horror: a profitable genre

Encripta is also betting big on the horror genre, with new additions such as the Butchers slasher trilogy and the well-known VHS franchise. “Horror is always our most profitable genre,” Arnizaut explains. “Even if it’s not the most popular on our own platform, it’s the type of content that generates the most revenue through licensing.”

He attributes this success to the genre’s universal impact: “We live in an era of individualism, but horror is one of the last collective experiences we have left. Everyone gets scared at the same time.”

He adds that big stars are not necessary to make a good horror movie: “Sure, if you have someone like Nicolas Cage, it’s better. But you don’t need a famous face to make it work.”

Consolidated presence in Latin America

Encripta not only distributes content, but also operates its own streaming platform, Looke, available in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, with plans to reach Argentina in the coming months. Looke focuses primarily on Portuguese-speaking audiences, but is expanding into Spanish-speaking audiences.

“85% of our catalog is already dubbed, which makes it easy to expand,” Arnizaut notes. “We are also present as a channel on Amazon in these countries, and we are looking to continue to grow.”

The company offers flexible licensing models, tailored to each customer’s needs. Some titles are sold with exclusive rights, while others can be distributed across multiple territories and platforms. “We start working on each piece of content as soon as we acquire it,” he says.
