The streaming platform announced two new projects in Colombia to premiere in 2020: thriller El robo del siglo, to be produced by Dynamo, and comedy Chichipatos, produced by Caracol.
Netflix continues to invest in original production in Colombia, announcing two new original series already in development to premiere in 2020.
The first is El robo del siglo, an action thriller based on the historic heist to the Valledupar Bank, which took place in 1994 and was known as “the heist of the century” in Colombia.
Produced by Dynamo, the series is created by Pablo González and Camilo Prince, and will star Andrés Parra and Christian Tappan.
“The impact of the robbery cataloged as the greatest of the century is enormous, I am proud to be part of the recount of an event that marked a before and after in the history of the country,” said actor Andrés Parra.
Already cataloged in social networks as “the Colombian Money Heist“, El robo del siglo will have 6, 40-minute episodes, and will be released globally on Netflix in the second half of 2020.
The second production announced is Chichipatos, Netflix’s first bet in Colombia for the comedy genre. It will star Antonio Sanint.
With 7 30-minute episodes, the fiction created by Dago García and produced by Caracol Televisión will be released during the first half of next year.
«After premiering stories that Colombians enjoyed enormously as Siempre bruja, Frontera Verde and the second season of Distrito salvaje, we now continue betting on local talent and reiterate our commitment to Colombia with these two new series in very different genres, which we know will be enjoyed all over the world,” said Francisco Ramos, VP of Original Content for Latin America and Spain on Netflix.
In addition to these two new series, the platform confirmed the second season of Siempre bruja, also by Caracol Televisión.
