Neftlix presented the official trailer and the first images of Criminal, its innovative original pan-European series, filmed in its new production hub in Madrid.
Set in a tense interrogation room in which psychological games abound between detectives and suspects, where the search for answers sometimes has a moral hazard, it is a police drama with a unique premise: all stories take place exclusively within the confines of a police interrogation room.
This cat and mouse drama will focus on the intense mental conflict between police officers and the suspects in question.
An innovative production, Criminal comprises 12 unique stories set in 4 different countries: Spain, France, United Kingdom and Germany.
The series is produced by George Kay (Killing Eve, The Hour) and Jim Field Smith (Endeavor, The Wrong Mans).
The three Spanish episodes star Carmen Machi, Inma Cuesta and Eduard Fernández, and directed by Mariano Barroso. Emma Suárez, Álvaro Cervantes, Jorge Bosch, José Ángel Egido, Nuria Mencía, Daniel Chamorro, María Morales, Javi Coll and Milo Taboada complete the cast.
For its part, the episodes in France are written, created and produced by Frédéric Mermoud, responsible for the script with Antonin Martin-Hilbert and Mathieu Missoffe, and starring Nathalie Baye, Jérémie Renier and Sara Giraudeau. Complete the cast Margot Bancilhon, Laurent Lucas, Stéphane Jobert, Anne Azoulay, Mhamed Arezki.
Created and produced by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, the episodes set in the UK will star David Tennant, Hayley Atwell, Youssef Kerkour and Clare-Hope Ashitey. The cast is completed by Katherine Kelly, Lee Ingleby, Nicholas Pinnock, Mark Stanley, Rochenda Sandall, Shubham Saraf.
Finally, the cast of the three German stories star Peter Kurth, Christian Berkel, Deniz Arora and Nina Hoss. The episodes will be directed and produced by Oliver Hirschbiegel and written by Bernd Lange and Sebastian Heeg, and the rest of the cast is completed by Eva Meckbach, Sylvester Groth, Florence Kasumba, Christian Kuchenbuch and Jonathan Berlin.
Criminal will be released worldwide on September 20 by Netflix.
