The next 10 Latin American original productions coming to Netflix this season span across fiction, documentary and entertainment.
Same as it is doing in other regions, this Wednesday Netflix presented its new original content for the 2020/2021 season for Latin America.
The productions include fiction series and films, documentary series and entertainment programs, and come from Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and the US Hispanic.
Here are the 10 upcoming Netflix original releases made in LatAm.
Vilas: Serás lo que debas ser o no serás nada (Argentina)
Premiere: October 27. The series follows an Argentine journalist who leads a crusade to ensure that his compatriot Guillermo Vilas, great tennis star, receive the recognition he deserves.
Carmel: ¿Quién mató a María Marta? (Argentina)
Premiere: November 5. True crime documentary series on the circumstances surrounding the death of María Marta García Belsunce, one of the most relevant and controversial police cases in Argentina.
El cuaderno de Tomy (Argentina)
Premiere: November 24. Carlos Sorín’s film tells the story of María “Marie” Vázquez, who when she finds out that she has a terminal illness decides to face the sad end in her own way: with emotion and a sarcastic humor that characterizes her.
Selena: La serie – Part 1 (US, Mexico)
Premiere: December 4. Series about the life of Tex-Mex singer Selena Quintanilla, who follows the artist as she grows up and fulfills her dreams, as she makes difficult decisions to hold on to love and make a living from music.
Monarca – Season 2 (Mexico)
In the new season, Sofia Carranza arrives in Mexico to avenge the murder of her father Agustín, and the main suspects are her cousins: Ana María, Joaquín and Andrés, owners of the Monarca emporium. Sofía’s mistake is to arrive accompanied by her husband Ignacio Urrutia, who was Ana María Carranza’s first love.
Nailed It! México – Season 3 (Mexico)
Premiere: January 5, 2021. The new installment shows the funniest pastry failures. Omar Chaparro, Anna Ruiz and guest judges accompany aspiring pastry chefs in a competition full of laughter, tension and lots of fondant.
Chichipatos – Season 2 (Colombia)
Premiere: 2021. The series will pick up the story exactly where the first season ended: the Moraleses have been kidnapped by Ñato Ordúz, who decides to take them to the same hideout where he will live with his family. While Ñato tries to convince Juanquini to work for him, Lucho desperately tries to find the Morales family, and will join forces with Captain González, who along with Ortíz continues on the trail of the fugitives.
Luis Miguel: The series – Season 2 (Mexico)
Premiere: 2021. The long-awaited second season of the series about the idol will have two timelines, and will explore the difficulties that Luis Miguel faced in balancing his family and professional life.
Haunted Latino America (Colombia and Mexico)
Premiere: 2021. The Latin American version of the successful non-fiction series will relate the terrifying experiences of those who have witnessed supernatural events and other inexplicable, chilling, peculiar or extraordinary phenomena that continue to haunt them.
¿Quién mató a Sara? (Mexico)
Premiere: 2021. Series created by José Ignacio Valenzuela and directed by David Ruiz and Bernardo de la Rosa. The cast is made up of Manolo Cardona, Claudia Ramírez, Eugenio Siller and Ana Lucía Domínguez, among others. In addition to having to discover the identity of a murderer, a revenge story is constructed in the purest Agatha Christie style.
