The streaming platform scored a total of 160 nominations for the 72nd Emmy Awards, followed by HBO with 107. Meanwhile, Disney+ achieved its first nomination thanks to The Mandalorian.
In a presentation like never before, conducted via Zoom, this Tuesday the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences revealed the nominees for the 72nd edition of the Emmy Awards.
As revealed by the organization, this year there were a record 767 productions competing to be nominated in more than 100 categories, 15% more than the previous year.
Netflix led the nominations with a total of 160, among which its drama Ozark is the most nominated. HBO came in second with a total of 107 nominations.
As for individual titles, HBO’s drama Watchmen was the most nominated with 26 in total, including Best Limited Series, followed by Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20, including Best Comedy.
Streaming platforms also lead the main categories, where series from Netflix, Amazon and Hulu competing for best drama and best comedy, in addition to Disney+, which launched just a few months ago, and also its first nomination thanks to The Mandalorian.
The final round of voting will begin on August 21 and the winners will be announced on September 20 at a ceremony presented by Jimmy Kimmel.
