Days ahead of its second season premiere, the streaming platform confirmed the Spanish series is returning for a third instalment.
Days away from premiering its new season on September 6, Netflix announced Spanish series Elite is returning with a third season.
With no official launch date yet, the new season is expected to premiere in 2020.
The announcement is not a surprise, given that Elite has been successful both in Spain and the international market. The first season became one of the most-watched on the platform.
According to TV Time, it was also the most-binged Spanish-language series between January and March, and has constantly appeared in the app’s Top 10 rankings.
It’s currently also the most anticipated Hispanic premiere in the world, according to TV Time’s Anticipation Report.
Spanish platform Bluper revealed the third season was commissioned by Netflix last year, along with the second one, a model also used for High Seas.
Elite is produced by Zeta Audiovisual for Netflix, written by Carlos Montero (El tiempo entre costuras, Física o Química) and Darío Madrona (Génesis, La chica de ayer, Los Protegidos).
The second season will star Miguel Bernadeau (Guzmán), Danna Paola (Lu), Itzán Escamilla (Samuel), Jaime Lorente (Nano), Miguel Herran (Christian), Aron Piper (Ander), Omar Ayuso (Omar), Ester Exposito (Carla), Mina El Hammani (Nadia), Álvaro Rico (Polo).
New for season two are Georgina Amoros (Cayetana) – Claudia Salas (Rebeca) and Jorge Lopez (Valerio).
