Produced by Dynamo, the new Colombian series will premiere worldwide on August 14th.
First announced in November of last year, Netflix’s new Colombian original series, El robo del siglo, will premiere worldwide on August 14.
The announcement was made through social networks by the platform and Andrés Parra, protagonist of the series.
The action series is based on the historical robbery of the Banco de la República de Valledupar, perpetrated in 1994 and known as «The robbery of the century in Colombia».
Produced by Dynamo, the series is created by Pablo González and Camilo Prince, and will star Andrés Parra, Christian Tappan and Marcela Benjumea.
In Colombia the series has already been baptized as “The Colombian Money Heist”, an element that the promo revealed by Netflix plays with.
El robo del siglo will have 6 episodes of 40 minutes. It also features performances by Waldo Urrego, Paula Castaño, Juan Sebastián Calero, Rodrigo Jerez, Juan Pablo Barragán, Ramsés Ramos and Katherine Velez.
It will join the long list of original Netflix series from Colombia, which includes titles such as Chichipatos, Distrito salvaje, Siempre bruja, Frontera verde, Historia de un crimen: Colmenares and Historia de un crimen: La búsqueda.
For Dynamo, meanwhile, it is a new collaboration with the OTT after Distrito salvaje, Frontera verde, Historia de un crimen: Colmenares and Historia de un crimen: La búsqueda,which are joined by the original Mexican series History of a crime: Colosio and the production services provided for Narcos.
