Ana Langenberg and Albertina Marfil spoke to ttvnews at the event about their new format That’s My Jam, “a perfect fit for Latin America”, and their search for new co-production opportunities in the region.
Owners of a vast catalog of formats and IPs, NBCUniversal is present at Content Americas to find new screens for its titles, as well as new production opportunities in Latin America.
“It’s great to be back. It’s been difficult to not be able to meet everyone in person in a market like the old markets used to be. I’m looking forward to meeting our clients in person again and talk about content for 2023 and beyond,” Ana Langenberg, Senior Vice President Format Distribution & Production at NBCUniversal Media, said to ttvnews.
“As part of the formats division at NBCU we represent all the IP that comes out of our companies, production companies and channels,” said Albertina Marfil, Director Sales Liaison and Formats Latin America at NBCUniversal Media.
“The main highlight for Latin America will be That’s My Jam, a Jimmy Fallon format with musical games. We’re really excited to be bringing this to this market. We already announced new versions in Europe and we think it will be perfect for Latin America where we love music and to have fun,” she added.
When it comes to new screens, the group is open to all potential partners and sees the OTT revolution as a gateway to new opportunities. “It’s good that there are going to be new opportunities with pan-regional channels and mergers. Obviously the OTT platforms too. I think it will complement the free TV business,” Marfil explained and added: “So we are trying to build new relationships and perhaps some combination of co-production, combine windows, especially fiction products”.
“For instance, we did a great coproduction with Dopamine which produced a version of Superstore in Mexico called Supertitlán”, said Langenberg. “So we are also in the market for opportunities for our scripted content, as a license or a coproduction. As part of the bigger NBCUniversal Int Studios, we also look for opportunities to meet partners, producers, writers, directors, to develop original ideas together,” she concluded.
