Natpe Budapest: A Market Seeking Reinvention

The event concluded its third and final full day of its 2025 edition, which will officially close its doors this Thursday, leaving attendees with mixed feelings and a clear need for reinvention for its next edition.

Natpe Budapest 2025 concluded its third day at the InterContinental Hotel on Wednesday, June 25. For many, the day marked an early close to the event, which officially ends tomorrow.

Among the day’s highlights was a special presentation by Sebastian van Barneveld, Director of Global Distribution at Talpa Studios, who shared details about the group’s creative process for creating internationally successful formats.

Even without official closing numbers from the organizers, those present at the event were noticeably aware of the drop in attendance compared to previous editions, as well as a decrease in traffic in the shared areas.

However, over its three days, Natpe hosted several talks and debates about the current state of the industry, the internationalization of formats, the role of AI and new technologies, and more; as well as presentations from major companies such as Sony Pictures, A+E Networks, and Lionsgate.

Among the exhibitors, there was a strong presence of Romanian companies, which are committed to seeking new distribution and production opportunities for their content in the CEE region, as well as traditional Turkish companies, which launched their successful dramas and series for the market.

This Thursday, June 26th, will mark the official closing of Natpe Budapest 2025, leaving behind mixed feelings among attendees and the need to rethink the market’s format for next year.
