The international distributor has arriven in Miami to reveal its latest shows, news and varied business plans, with a special focus on the development and co-production of fiction series.
Mondo TV Iberoamerica, part of the Mondo TV Group focused on distribution and co- production for the Latin American and Iberian markets, is present at Natpe Miami this year to reveal its latest news and its varied business plans, with a special focus on the development and co-production of fiction series.
At Natpe Miami the company’s main objective is to meet and deal with multi-territory partners. But it will also engage with many local broadcasters in order to widen its reach within this group.
Buyers will be able to hear about the latest projects in development, such as the sci-fi drama 2050, a coproduction with VIP 2000 TV and Casablanca, targeting viewers from young adult upwards.
In its role as an agent, Mondo TV Iberoamerica is also presenting a number of other fiction projects for third parties, all of which are at an early stage of development but all of which stand out for their originality and the wide appeal they are expected to have across audiences and regions.
As a major international television distributor, the company’s goal is also to strengthen its position among the main players in the market and of course, to distribute the wide-ranging Mondo TV portfolio.
The major focus will be MeteoHeroes, a Mondo TV co-production with MEC (Meteo Expert Center). Featuring six superhero kids who combat pollution and climate change, the series will capture the imaginations of kids but also help them better understand environmental issues and how they should be handled or prevented.
MeteoHeroes is a multifaceted project: a compelling 52 x 7’ episode series due in spring 2020, an information-packed website, and a content-rich app (including weather forecasts for kids). It is expected to inspire school projects, become a unique immersive journey of discovery – and of course thrill and entertain! The first deals are being finalized and will be announced very soon.
YooHoo to the Rescue is the first-ever Netflix Original Series from co-producers Mondo TV and Aurora World. This is a new 3D CGI 52 x 11’ children’s series based on the globally successful line of Aurora World plush toys, more than 80 million of which have been sold since the worldwide launch of the line in 2007.
This is a funny, exciting and beautifully designed animated series with strong environmental themes, in which YooHoo and his friends, Pammee, Roodee, Chewoo and Lemmee, confront threats to nature and wildlife and meet many different endangered animal species. The series has been available worldwide from March 2019 exclusively on the Netflix platform. Starting from April 2019 the series premiered exclusively on free-to-air channels in Italy (Frisbee), Poland (TVP ABC from September 2019), Russia (Carousel from July 2019), Spain (Clan TVE from September 2019) and Portugal (Canal Panda from autumn 2019). Awareness of this engaging and magical show is set to be greater than ever in 2020.
Bat Pat is back to chill, thrill and entertain for a second season. For season two (52 x 11’) of this 2D animated series, Mondo TV Iberoamerica, has announced the signing of an important co-production contract with Corporación de Radio y Televisión Española, S.A. S.M.E. (RTVE).
RTVE joins Italian transmedia entertainment company, Atlantyca Entertainment, creator of such hits as Geronimo Stilton, as a co-producer of the show. Rai Ragazzi is also a production partner on Bat Pat 2, which launched on Rai Gulp in October 2019.
The second season of Bat Pat continues the spooky and comical animated adventures of Bat Pat, a talking bat, and his friends Martin, Leo and Rebecca Silver as they unravel mysteries and cross paths with supernatural creatures of the night in their home of Fogville. A visit to 13 Friday Street, the Silver kids and their friend Bat Pat is a recipe for spooky adventure-comedy in which fast-paced, quirky humour comes together with some very unusual adventures.
Other titles on show at booth 510 include Invention Story (52×11’) and Sissi The Young Empress, which now brings more magic and adventure in a brand-new format: a 26 x 11’ series in 3D CGI – and much more!
Maria Bonaria Fois, CEO at Mondo TV Iberoamerica, says: “Content evolution is the driving theme of NATPE and it’s a powerful part of our own planning. We intend to remain a strong player in the distribution and production of animation, notably through our pre-production studio Mondo TV Producciones Canarias.”
“At the same time, however, we are expanding and diversifying our output to address changing market demand. Thus, one of our goals for the future is the production of fiction. We have already begun working on a strategy to make this goal a reality, and we are paying close attention in particular to creative voices coming from Spain, Italy and Latin America, where we believe there is a strong supply of innovation.”
