New research from the company indicates the Google-owned platform is worth between US$500 billion and US$560 billion.

Undoubtedly the most-used video platform, YouTube has now been crowned the world’s largest media company.

The title was given by MoffettNathanson via its latest research, which indicates the Google-owned platform reached US$ 62 billion in revenue, thus beating Disney’s US$ 60.9 billion.

With these numbers, the research firm estimates YouTube is worth between US$500 billion and US$560 billion.

“Over the next few years, unlike almost any other asset we cover, we strongly believe that YouTube will be a major beneficiary of both the structural tailwinds and headwinds facing technology and media companies. In a world filled with business model concerns, YouTube’s global scale and innovative offerings create an uncommonly high moat”, MoffettNathanson analysis says.

Looking ahead, the firm explains YouTube stands to grow from generative AI and content that can be targeted and monetized; as well as small bundles and streaming channels, and its music service.

MoffettNathanson estimates that YouTube has 334 million global paid subscribers, 180 million from Google One and 143 million from YouTube Premium.

“We now anticipate slightly faster subscription revenue growth in 2027 and 2028 than previously penciled in,” the firm concluded. “All together, we forecast YouTube’s total revenue growth to settle in the low double-digit range from 2026 through 2028.”
