With great expectations and some uncertainty about what the first edition of MIP London may be, the Miptv organization presented official figures for this last edition at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
On an atypical day for what is usually the sunny Cote d’Azur, the rain has reduced movement in the corridors of the Palais des Festivals. However, the movement intensified towards the afternoon, at which time a concentration of attendees was recorded at Riviera 7.
The organization released some figures about what this latest edition of Miptv has been like.
Among the conferences held on this day, the presentation of trends in fiction content by the consulting firm The Wit stands out, highlighting a large number of fictions linked to physical and mental health, such as Crisis, Night of Rapy, Lo mejor que vale and Frank Berlin.
In the afternoon, the Miptv organization once again held a conference at Riviera 8, this time open to the entire public present, where they highlighted the main characteristics of what will be the first edition of MIP London.
Also in the afternoon, this time at the Majestic hotel, Turkish distributor Global Agency presented the cast of the new production One Love. At night, the distributor also held a big party to celebrate its new production at the Martínez de la Croissette Hotel.
Inter Medya presented its ten new miniseries, a product of the agreement with the Gain platform, and a new co-production by MGE, Amor y Orgullo, which will be presented in Los Angeles.
Elif Turna, Sales and Business Development Manager of MediaHub, presented the company’s first drama project, along with docuseries, films and formats.
Muge Akar, Head of Sales at ATV, presented For my family in its fourth season, The Father in its second season and The Ottoman in its sixth season, among others.
Rosalía Alcubilla, Head of Global Clients at RTVE, highlighted the company’s new Spanish content, such as Operación Barrio Inglés set in 1940, or Esto no es Suecia, number one on our platform, Detective Touré and La ley del mar, based on real facts.
Lucy Smith, Entertainment Division Director of Miptv & Mipcom, spoke at a press conference about Miptv’s final figures, although the expectations and the presentation were focused on what will be the launch of the new MIP London which, according to the executive, will be an international multi-genre market: “We believe that it is the right time to make this change. It will be a different type of event than what Miptv has been until now, without stands, designed especially for meeting tables, screenings and networking spaces, which is exactly what the market is asking for right now.”
In short, Miptv says goodbye with one of its lowest participation rates, and with the certainty that expectations will be placed on the results that will be obtained from this new formula focused on private meetings, screenings and business tables.
