Prior to Reed Midem unveiling the new plans for Mipcom 2020, Deadline revealed Sony Pictures Television is also planning to skip the physical edition of the event.
SPT thus joins the long list of international distributors who’ve also opted out from travelling to Cannes this year.
The list includes BBC Studios, Fremantle, eOne, ITV Studios and A+E, among others.
According to the report, SPT will participate in Mipcom Online+, following the good results obtained in May on the virtual LA Screenings.
It remains to be seen now what happens to Sony and the rest of the companies that have already ruled out their presence in Cannes due to the new plans of Reed Midem, who announced this Friday that Mipcom 2020 will not have company stands and that the event will last one day shorter.
