The event returned to an in-person format with an industry yearning to reunite as it experiences it best moment in terms of original production and new co-production agreements.
As expected, the first day of MipCancun stood out for the spirit of reunion among those present. A first day that also presents a number of attendees that is close in size to that of previous years, showing that it is possible to resume face-to-face meetings in a safe manner.
The organization has put much of itself to offer the necessary security to those present, offering antigen tests free of charge for everyone, as well as the tests to return to their country of origin.
In this context somewhat different from the one we have known until today, the scheduled appointments took place as usual in MipCancun, highlighting the desire to meet new players linked to original production, at a time when the market demands fresh content.
For Liliam Hernández from Cinergia Dubbing, for example, this event comes right at a time of great demand: “We haven’t stopped. We have our offices open in five cities and all with high demand for work. Having associated ourselves with large platforms and brands like WarnerMedia has made us work a lot, but above all, it shows that the market recognizes the quality of what we are doing”.
For Rose Marie Vega from RMVistar, the event has a different flavor: “It is the first time that I have to be more focused on co-productions, and it has really been very productive. Let’s wait to see what news we have to tell after the event”.
For those first-timers at the event, the search for new contacts becomes imperative. This is the case of Marie Leguizamo, recently appointed Head of Banijay Mexico & US Hispanic, she has the challenge of promoting her facilities, looking for new projects that resonate in both the US Hispanic and Mexican markets: “It’s a new challenge and I believe that being here is also a way for people to get to know me, to know that now in addition to being a good executive producer, we have a new company that will be able to offer all its know-how to the local and international market”.
On this day, in addition, the Inter Medya showcase took place, along with interviews with Marie Leguizamo from Banijay Mexico & US Hispanic and the conversation with Juan Ponce from Telemundo Streaming Studios, both moderated by ttvnews. The day ended with the traditional cocktail party for all those present.
