Without a doubt one of the most prolific groups in Spain and the international market, Atresmedia is always present in the industry markets with a portfolio full of new productions with proven success.

“We are here at LA Screenings once again, super happy and excited,” Miguel García, Head of International Sales at Atresmedia, began in a conversation with ttvnews. “Atresmedia continues to produce a ton of new fiction, as well as documentaries and entertainment formats. The factory never stops. We have produced a dozen titles for broadcast on Antena 3 as well as Atresplayer originals.”

Thus, the Spanish group arrived in Los Angeles with several premieres from the latest season, led by Mariliendre, “which has been the series fan phenomenon of recent months in Spain.”

“It’s been an unprecedented success. It’s a Zuma Content production for Atresmedia, the producer from Los Javis. It’s an original idea produced by Javier Ferreiro. It consists of six 50-minute episodes that tell the story of Meri Roman. She’s a mariliendre, one of the women who accompanies gay groups at their parties. Roman has been the most famous mariliendre in Madrid’s nightlife, but an event turned her into the most hated. Ten years later, Meri, who has already lost all contact with her friends, suffers the loss of her father, and while packing up her things, she discovers that her father had a hidden past: he was gay and hadn’t told anyone. And she discovers she must investigate more about her father’s life and why he committed suicide. Thus, she reconnects with those friends she hasn’t seen in 10 years and begins to try to learn more about her father and seek forgiveness from those friends,” she explained.

In addition to Mariliendre, another series that has been a resounding success was Física o Química: La Nueva Generación. “It’s eight 50-minute episodes and it’s the return of a classic franchise, with new cast, new plots, and adapted somewhat to today, to 2025. It’s the story of a group of young people who suffered the loss of a classmate the previous year, and in the new year they experience their first times, parties, love, and problems, which lead them to maturity. We recently confirmed the production of its second season and we’ve come here to find the best home for it in the US and Latin America,” the executive emphasized.

“As a third product, I want to highlight Eva & Nicole, which we premiered on Antena 3,” the executive continued. “It’s an Atresplayer exclusive, so it premiered there first and now on broadcast TV. It’s eight 50-minute episodes. It’s the story of two empowered women fighting to own the best nightclub in Marbella, the Spanish city where the jet set was concentrated in the 1980s. A heartbreak between them turned them from friends into enemies. It’s a series full of revenge, love, heartbreak, drama, thriller… with a touch of comedy that makes it super engaging.”

Finally, among the titles that have premiered in recent months, García highlighted A Muerte, the seven-episode Atresplayer series that became the first series to premiere simultaneously worldwide on Apple TV+. “It has received a flood of great reviews from audiences and viewers. In addition to Apple TV+, Atresplayer will premiere it in Spain on June 15, and we are very excited to be able to launch it on our platform,” she emphasized.

“This new content offering is complemented by other content we’ve already launched in other markets, which we’re incredibly excited about and continue to bring good news. One of them is Sueños de Libertad, the daily telenovela, the most-watched series in Spain for over a year. It’s the number one series in the audience rankings. Sueños de Libertad, which has already aired up to episode 300 in Spain, is now continuing its second season with new twists and turns, but the same success as always. We hope to be able to share good news soon because we already know it will be a hit in Latin America,” he concluded.
