Nitelite Pictures has signed a TV development deal with the Mexican actress for the two English-language comedy series Mexican/American and Los Interviews of Hollywood.
Los Angeles-based NiteLite Pictures (NiteLite) has signed a TV development deal with top Mexican TV star and actress Natalia Téllez for two new English language, comedy series that will feature Téllez, tapping into her huge Hispanic following in both the United States and Mexico.
The deal was signed this month during the Oaxaca Film Festival, where NiteLite’s award-winning film #WeLaGente was an official selection.
The series in development featuring Téllez include Mexican/American, a half-hour comedy talk show covering everything from pop culture to politics, with views from both North and South of the United States border.
Also in development is a half-hour comedy celebrity interview series titled Los Interviews of Hollywood spotlighting Téllez as a fish-out-of-water host chatting up some of the biggest Hollywood stars, taking her questions straight from the tabloids.
Both series provide Téllez with a unique platform to showcase her interview, comedic and improvisational skills.
“Natalia is fun, quick and unflappable in any language. She’s a wicked ball of energy and a great collaborator,” comments NiteLite president Harry Lowell. “We’re excited to introduce her vibrant talent, already widely known to Hispanic audiences, to the English language market.”
Production is expected to begin in Los Angeles in Q2 2020. NiteLite’s Ari Wilhelm is the producer and development lead on the two series.
Born in Mexico City, Natalia Téllez is one of the top TV presenters and hosts of numerous series including The Voice… Mexico (La Voz… Mexico), the most powerful Spanish language morning show in Latin America and North America Today (Hoy) series on Televisa, and an actress, most known for her work in the series Palabra de mujer (2007), the film En las buenas y en las malas (2018) and the upcoming Veinteañera, divorciada y fantástica, releasing in 2020.
