In a market as saturated as that of children’s content, Gookapi arrives from Spain with a unique proposal: it is the first interactive platform designed to promote learning and fun for boys and girls from 0 to 9 years old, with the aim of educating the youngest members of the household in sustainable development and values.
“Gookapi is a company based in the Basque Country and its main objective is to promote edutainment content on universal values and sustainable development, fostering creativity and the abilities of boys and girls. It is a safe space where parents can have the confidence to find violence-free, green and inclusive content,” Marianella Gomis, director of Project Development and Acquisitions for the platform, began in dialogue with ttvnews.
“We have created it with special features to make it possible to enjoy original interactive productions, where girls and boys can take part in the chapters, sharing the spotlight with the elves of the episodes produced.”
The platform presents content designed around a universe of characters – the Elves – where each one is shaped with an identity and around a theme. “In the Gookapi properties each of the characters has a thematic axis,”
“Gookapi has a common identity, a similar character design, but each one has its own image. “Each one deals with a different theme and each one is inspired by a tree. One is nature, one is creativity, one is climate change, one is preschool, and so on,” the executive explained.
Liz, Mithy, Pintxo, Hur and Ezki are the protagonists of great adventures. Each one in their own thematic tasks: Mithy explores nature; Pintxo fights climate change, with 360º episodes, tells us legends from the five continents in a new series (premiere in February 2025 + live show); Hur introduces preschool concepts (app, series and activity books); and in Liz’s Workshop girls and boys learn to carry out experiments, crafts and cooking recipes. Finally, you can’t miss Secret Songs of the Elves, a playlist to dance with the protagonists.
In addition, the universe of the Gookapi Elves is made up of IPs (interactive and linear), an interactive streaming platform, the first in Spanish, and its contents, in addition to being entertaining, are safe, educational and committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) promoted by the United Nations, and Apps, interactive live shows, editorial and merchandising products with a digital layer complete the universe that offers a unique experience for children.
«We have six of our own series within the universe of the elves. This is the first market that we bring the elves to, they are the IPs within the Gookapi universe. We have the series to license with interactive versions that only work on our platform, but we made them in a linear version to be able to license them,» said the executive.
Thus, the Spanish group is looking for partners to increase the visibility of the linear series, building alliances that allow it to grow in presence and recognition at an international level.
“Here at Content Americas we are looking for these partnerships with operators to expand the audience of our series,” said the executive. “We have a 360 offer where the characters have related products in addition to the series, such as books and apps,” she added.
In addition to licensing the originals, Gookapi’s main objective for 2025 is to build alliances that expand the visibility of its Fast Channel (Gookapi Kids) and the interactive platform.
During the last year, the group has closed agreements with Toon Googles (USA), Nuestra TV (US Hispanics), ETB (Basque Country) and Quivertree Media (Inflight). In co-production with Guatemala TV, they are working together on the development of Mithy Explora: Guatemala de Mithy Explorador, a format that seeks to take us to different corners of the world. In the editorial area, so far they have published, together with the Volteletras publishing house, three titles from the collection with the incorporation of augmented reality and we complete this line with the HUR APRENDE activity books for early childhood education (6 titles).
In addition to all the original series on Gookapi’s streaming and fast channel platform, the group has incorporated external productions from Latin America and Europe that share its vision: Ciudad Jardín (Peru), Renata y los problemas (Chile), Ugo y Serena (Argentina-Brazil), Pipo mi Amigo Imaginario (Colombia), Helados (Chile), A vista de pájaro (Costa Rica), Misho & Robin (Argentina), Gazoon (France), Brewster the rooster (Ireland), Tiny Square Critters (Denmark), Juani y Gatón (Colombia), Rocka-bye Island (Ireland) and Peztronauta (Brazil).
