Turkish distributor Mistco is at Content Americas to present its new series Rumi, which leads a diverse catalog focused on series and features a strong slate of films well-suited for placement on streaming platforms and Free TV.
This was highlighted by María Espino, Sales Director at Mistco, who noted that Rumi is a historical series the company is showcasing at Content Americas.
Alongside this launch, Espino explained that Mistco continues to promote its catalog of Turkish films, which were previously presented at MIP Cancún. “We’re continuing with our Turkish films, we’re seeing the market’s reaction, and there’s interest both from Free TV and, especially, from platforms,” she said.
The executive emphasized that these are high-quality cinematic productions. “The films we sell are theatrical films, so the cast and production values are strong, and I think there’s a solid market there,” she added.
Rumi, originally titled Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî, is a series produced by Kale Film for the channel tabii, with a total of 30 episodes of 60 minutes each. Set in 13th-century Anatolia, the story unfolds amid fear and instability, with the grim memories of the Crusades still fresh and the Mongol threat advancing across the region. Amid internal power struggles and warfare, the spiritual figure of Hz. Mevlana rises, seeking to calm the people’s fears and offer rationality and wisdom through his teachings. Beginning with the Mongol siege of Erzurum in 1242, the series portrays a turbulent period of the Seljuk Empire, alongside Mevlana’s inner journey and the empire’s own process of transformation.
