The Family features international megastar Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ (Crash, Brave and Beautiful, Forbidden Love, Kuzey Güney, Gümüş) in his much-anticipated return to Turkish television

MADD Entertainment is presenting the drama The Family to the international market at this week’s Miptv in Cannes. The new Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ series launched in March with the strongest premiere of 2023, and it continues to earn top ratings in the coveted AB and ABC1+20 target groups, says the distributor.

The Family features international megastar Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ (Crash, Brave and Beautiful, Forbidden Love, Kuzey Güney, Gümüş) in his much-anticipated return to Turkish television.

Kıvanç plays a notorious crime lord who must manage Istanbul’s underworld as well as his strange family and new psychologist girlfriend, played by the ravishing Serenay Sarıkaya (Phi, Medcezir).

The Family airs Tuesday nights on Turkey’s Show TV, where it leads all series in all demographic groups, with an average rating of 8.58 and a 19.80%. share.

“Viewers love the onscreen chemistry of Kıvanç and Serenay and the unique family-centered plot,” affirms Madd in its press release. “Fan engagement is also strong, as both the series and its stars become Turkey’s top Trending Topic every Tuesday.”

In addition to the romantic leads, The Family’s all-star ensemble includes top Turkish actors Nur Sürer (Chrysalis, The Pit), Nejat İşler (Revenge), Canan Ergüder (The Agency, War of Roses, 1001 Nights), Yüsra Geyik (Chrysalis), Levent Ülgen (Our Father, Kuzgun), and Ushan Çakır (Stiletto Vendetta). Produced by Ay Yapim, the series is helmed by veteran director Ahmet Katıksız (My Son, Flames of Fate, One Love).

In The Family, Aslan Soykan may be the head of Istanbul’s most notorious crime family, but at the dinner table his mother Hulya rules with an iron fist. She has managed to keep the unruly clan together with a set of unbreakable traditions, the foremost being, “You can’t escape from the table!”.

All that goes up in smoke when Aslan disrupts family dinner for the sake of a woman he just met, the beautiful psychologist Devin. Devin and Aslan fall in love, and as they become closer, the psychologist can’t help but diagnose his discordant family. But can a psychologist thrown right in the middle of a battlefield heal everyone? And can she deal with a narcissist like Aslan without fully recovering from her own wounds?
