Produced by Mediawan’s Skyhigh TV, the reality competition format will be adapted in the Netherlands for the streaming platform.
Keshet International has completed a major deal for Tuesday’s Child’s Killer Camp, which will see the slasher-horror whodunit reality competition format adapted in the Netherlands for Prime Video.
Produced by Mediawan’s Skyhigh TV, the 6×40’ Dutch adaptation will see 11 well-known influencers from the Netherlands check in to the 80s American-style “Camp Pleasant”. But one of them is hatching a murderous plan, forcing them all to fight for their lives in a strategic game of cat and mouse while competing to expose the “killer” among them for a share of the €20,000 cash prize.
By day, the campers will navigate a host of hilarious challenges while the “killer” attempts to sabotage their efforts, implicating other players in the process. Once darkness descends, one unlucky camper will be picked off and “murdered” every night in the most gruesome and elaborately retro-themed ways possible, losing their claim to the cash prize!
Sky High TV’s creative director Marius van Duijn and executive producer Martine Tromp say: “When we first saw Killer Camp, we loved it immediately. We are very excited we can bring this new and fresh whodunit-game-reality-horror format to the Dutch audience and are grateful to the Netherlands’ Prime Video team for their trust and enthusiasm.”
Keren Shahar, Keshet International’s COO and President of Distribution, adds: “We are thrilled thatKiller Camp has found a great home with Prime Video. This format is a really exciting take on reality TV that keeps younger audiences engaged and entertained right through to the end of the series, and we are confident that Skyhigh TV will do a brilliant job of reinterpreting this format for Dutch audiences.”
Karen Smith, CEO of Tuesday’s Child, says: “It’s fantastic to be working with Skyhigh TV and Prime Video on our first European adaptation of Killer Camp. This reality format is a fresh and exciting mix of sexy, young reality and gameshow, with an intriguing whodunit twist that keeps viewers guessing, and talking about the show, till the final ep.”
Filmed on location at Het Blauwe Meer (The Blue Lake) in the Netherlands, Prime Video’s Killer Camp will be staffed by club counsellor, comedian and actor Ruud Smulders, who will serve up a whole host of surprises and hilarious challenges throughout the series. With Marius van Duijn on board as creative director, the Dutch remake will be executive produced by Martine Tromp for SkyHigh TV. Killer Camp NL will premiere later this year on Prime Video in the Netherlands.
Described as “hilariously creative” by Digital Spy and dubbed “the murder Love Island” by Metro, the original Killer Camp was created and produced by Tuesday’s Child Television for both ITV2 in the UK and The CW in the United States. Both seasons were executive produced by Karen Smith, Steph Harris and Ben Wilson.
Keshet International distributes the format and finished tape of Killer Camp on behalf of Tuesday’s Child Television. Talks are on-going with other production and broadcast partners elsewhere in Europe, with more news to follow soon.
