The actor was present at this year’s Turkish TV Festival to talk about the hit drama and the demands of portraying his character.
Leading actor Kaan Mirac Sezen, breakout star of the hit OGM Universe drama Six of Us (Sahipsizler), shared personal insights into the emotional demands of his role during an exclusive conversation at the Turkish TV Festival.
“Cemo isn’t a hero. He’s a survivor,” Sezen said. “He carries the weight of his family, but he’s still just a boy trying to make sense of the world.”
Produced by OGM Pictures and broadcast every Wednesday on Star TV, Six of Us follows six orphaned siblings trying to survive on the unforgiving streets of Istanbul after the brutal loss of their parents. Cemo, portrayed by Sezen, is the emotional anchor of the family, tough, wounded, and driven by justice.
Sezen revealed that preparing for the role required deep emotional immersion and physical endurance. “I watched documentaries, read real stories, and spent time alone -sometimes in silence for hours- just to feel what Cemo feels. I wanted to carry his burden as truthfully as I could,” he said.
He also credited acclaimed director Cem Karcı with shaping the tone and rhythm of the series. “He didn’t want us to act – he wanted us to become these people. His direction made the pain feel real, not performed”, Sezen said.
Six of Us has been widely praised for its raw storytelling, cinematic realism, and emotionally honest portrayal of family and survival. The series also features a powerful love story between Azize and Devran, bringing a layer of tenderness to the siblings’ struggle for hope and dignity.
With international recognition growing, Sezen is quickly becoming one of the most promising faces of Turkey’s new generation of screen talent.
“Stories like this don’t need translation,” he said. “Everyone understands what it means to fight for the people you love.”
