With the help of entertainment formats such as Mi nombre es or Ahora caigo, and a big bet on original production, TVN Chile managed to establish itself as a major channel on Chilean broadcast TV in 2024.
“What has happened with Carmen Gloria a tu servicio and Ahora Caigo in the afternoons, is that they are programs that have been consolidated during this year and have been super competitive,” began Javier Goldschmied, programming director of TVN Chile, in a conversation with ttvnews at the current edition of Content Americas in Miami.
“Now we have to do double work with what is coming next,” he warned. “Because the normal thing is to believe that they will always work and what one should not do is tire out those programs, and that people stop watching them and there is no replacement.”
Thus, the executive explained, TVN seeks to renew its hit formats, “with new sections in Carmen Gloria and new games in Ahora Caigo,” he said. “So people can also understand that the format allows variations and new things with the type of games they will find as of March. That is essential to give it continuity in 2025.”
This concept of renewal also applies to its prime time formats, where its latest great success, Mi nombre es, has managed to make them competitive again in prime time.
“Mi nombre es fulfilled the duty of positioning us as a channel in a time where they were not watching us and what we have to do is grow more, to be able to consolidate ourselves with an entertainment strategy,” he explained. “We have given it variation with special coverage, international guests, celebrities… we always try to give something different to the audience so that they do not believe that it will always be something the same.”
And speaking of formats and original production, another big business area for the channel has been the growth of its production hub, where just a couple of months ago the production of the Brazilian version of Ahora caigo: Acerte ou Caia, which is broadcast on Sundays by the Record TV network, was announced. It is being recorded at TVN’s facilities.
This project marks a milestone in audiovisual collaboration between both countries, expanding the channel’s business model, generating significant revenues exceeding 100 thousand dollars.
In addition, this same month of January, the channel celebrated the success of its Projects Area, created in 2024 together with an online platform that has opened the doors to Chilean and foreign producers to present their proposals quickly and accessibly.
Thus, the channel, which in 2024 opted for family entertainment with Ahora Caigo and Mi nombre es, seeks to expand its entertainment catalog by receiving ideas for programs and content in all possible formats.
