Filmax’s Director of TV Sales spoke to ttvnews at Content Americas about their ongoing television productions, which span a variety of genres and formats.

To complement its wide catalog of films, this year Filmax continues its commitment to the creation and distribution of content for television, coming to Content Americas with several aces up its sleeve.

“Miami in January always works very well for us, it’s the beginning of the year. We have our film side and we usually always combine it with Berlin. In this case we did it with Sundance, where we premiered our film, Mamacruz,” began in dialogue with ttvnews Iván Díaz, Director of TV Sales at Filmax.

“This year we are also very active on TV. We have just finished the SelfTape series, which we produced in Spain for Filmin and TVE. We presented it here and it was liked a lot, we are very happy with the reception,” he explained.

The series produced and sold internationally by Filmax, has the Filmin Original seal. It is a fiction with autobiographical overtones created and starring the sisters, Joana and Mireia Vilapuig, actresses who, as children, participated in the successful series The Red Band Society.

SelfTape has 6 30-minute episodes, and is shot mainly in Catalan and Spanish, but with some dialogue in English.

“We are also finishing recording a series called Dating Barcelona, a romantic comedy with different relationships in the city of Barcelona. We are producing it for TV in Catalonia and Amazon,” the executive revealed, adding: “And we have very large projects for the end of the year and next year”.

“The TV part is very active and very dynamic, and the team led by Pau Freixas has the ability to create varied and interesting content.”

“We have dramas, fiction that we create and also animation projects. We have a very large animation project that we will announce this year. We have made documentaries for TV. We want to have a wide, varied catalogue. We feel more comfortable with fiction but we believe that It is important, due to the number of players in the market, to have a diverse catalog that we can offer to old and new customers,” he concluded.
