Warner Bros. Discovery and Liberty Global, joint owners of All3Media, have been considering selling the independent production company
ITV is “actively exploring” the possibility of acquiring All3Media, the independent TV production company, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Liberty Global. After reports of its supposed interest, ITV has confirmed them and it is estimated that it would be willing to pay the 1,300 million dollars (one million pounds) at which the production company is valued.
The reports on Friday, originally published by Reuters, led ITV to confirm the news today in a statement addressed to its shareholders. “ITV Plc notes the recent media speculation and confirms that it is actively exploring the possible acquisition of All3Media,” the broadcaster said in a statement to the stock exchange quoted by Reuters. “There can be no certainty as to whether any transaction will take place, nor as to the terms of any such transaction.”
The first report spoke of ITV’s interest in acquiring the shares corresponding to WBD, which after its merger wants to cut costs by getting rid of All3Media, but the new reports speak of the total acquisition of the production company.
All3Media was created jointly by Liberty and Discovery in 2014, becoming the UK’s largest independent TV production company. All3Media generates annual earnings of £100m (before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization).
The British production company has more than 50 production companies around the world and holds the rights to titles such as Undercover Boss, Shameless (UK version), The Circle, Lingo and Fleabag, among others.
