From June 24 to 27, under the umbrella brand Audiovisual from Spain, two delegations from important Spanish production companies and distributors will participate in both events, to promote the Spanish audiovisual sector, and unveil their new fiction and unscripted content for the international market.
Next Monday, June 24, will mark the beginning of two important meetings of the international audiovisual industry, with Sunny Side of the Doc and Natpe Budapest inaugurating new editions in France and Hungary, respectively; and ICEX Spain Trade & Investment is pleased to announce an important Spanish presence for both events.
Spanish Docs Make Their Way to France
With the help of Docs from Spain, the Audiovisual from Spain umbrella brand dedicated to promoting companies and audiovisual content in the documentary genre, the best of Spanish unscripted production will be present in the French town of La Rochelle for the 35th edition of Sunny Side of the Doc (SSD), the leading European marketplace dedicated to documentary and narrative XR experiences.
The forum, which will bring together more than 2,200 professionals from 60 countries from June 24 to 27, will welcome an important delegation of Spanish audiovisual companies, including Arraianos Producións, Artico Distribution, El Gatoverde Producciones, Feel Sales, Quality Media, Siesta Producciones, Somadrome and Wild Stories.
All of them will participate in the Spanish Rendez-vous: Docs from Spain matchmaking, an exclusive meeting organized by Docs from Spain on the afternoon of Wednesday the 26th, where they will show their projects in development to potential international partners, both production companies and sales agents, interested in themselves. The activity will take place in one-to-one appointment format. These meetings have been scheduled according to the expert criteria of those responsible for organizing SSD.
Spain will also have a prominent presence in the official program, with five projects selected from among the 42 finalists that will be presented in the various thematic categories that make up the co-production pitching sessions: Destination Proxima Centauri (co-produced by Somadrome Films) is participating in the Science pitch; The Curse of Sugar (co-produced by Inicia Films), is participating in the History pitch; Call Me Sinsorga (produced by Al Borde Films), is competing in the Art and Culture category; and Dreams of the Wild Oaks (co-produced by Lukimedia) is competing in the New Voices category.
All of them will be presented in the large auditorium before more than 300 representatives of television networks, platforms, distributors and investors in search of innovative and impactful stories.
The presence of Docs from Spain at this event is coordinated by ICEX, with the support of the Spain Audiovisual Hub of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed by the Next Generation Funds of the European Commission.
