Creativity and business keynotes will be held with TelevisaUnivision, Bambú Producciones and The Good Mood, while Fremantle joined the spotlight program.

Iberseries & Platino Industria continues to reveal details of its fourth edition, which will take place from October 1 to 4 at Matadero Madrid. On this occasion, the organization announced the addition of new panels and professionals to the program of conferences, keynotes and spotlights of this essential international event for the Ibero-American audiovisual industry.

Renowned executives and major names from the sector on both sides of the Atlantic will participate, being the main meeting point for platforms, television networks, creatives, producers, distributors, buyers, financiers and other agents who work for film and audiovisual content in Spanish and Portuguese.

To date, there are already more than 1,000 accredited professionals from 45 countries. The largest number of professionals come from Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, the United States and Chile. They are followed by Peru, Portugal, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Italy, the United Kingdom and France.

Keynotes from TelevisaUnivision, Bambú Producciones and The Good Mood

TelevisaUnivision, the giant of Hispanic television, will host a business keynote. The market is currently undergoing a transformation in three key aspects: measuring audience consumption, segmented marketing that does not reflect global consumption and the evolution of consumption through various platforms.

In this context, the opportunity arises to create live content experiences that are a reflection of popular culture and an integral part of today’s dialogue, and that live on multiple platforms in a complementary and simultaneous way. Ignacio “Nacho” Meyer, president of Univision Networks Group (USA), will speak about all of this.

Ramón Campos, CEO of Bambú Producciones; and Daniel Écija, creator, showrunner and producer of The Good Mood, two of the most influential figures on the Spanish television scene and creators of the most famous and acclaimed series on a national and international scale, will examine in another keynote the present and future of television fiction in a journey through their professional career, the figure of the showrunner and its impact on content production.

Fremantle joins the Spotlights programme

In addition to the already announced Spotlights with Anonymous Content, Caracol TV, RTVE, The Mediapro Studio, Max, The Walt Disney Company Spain and Secuoya Studios, the Fremantle Spotlight will feature: Creativity, technology and the evolution of business models in the global creation of content.

This space will feature the participation of Manuel Martí, Head of Scripted Development at Fremantle (Mexico); Olivia Sleiter, Head of Production at Fremantle Italy and José Skaf, Head of Drama at Fremantle Spain; who will delve into the innovation of drama series and films in Europe and Latin America.

A debate on how creative freedom, technological advances and current trends in media consumption are shaping the future of the industry under the gaze of one of the largest producers and distributors of entertainment and fiction content in the world.

Anonymous Content Panel

This panel features the participation of Jacobo Aparicio, International Director, Anonymous Content, joined by Barbara Teixeira, CEO and executive producer of Anonymous Content Brazil; and Beatriz Campos, Managing Director of Anonymous Content Spain, to analyze the link between Spain and Latin America in the production of content.

New Iberseries & Platino Industria 2024 Conferences

At the Brazil conference, land of creative opportunities in audiovisual, Brazilian producers will analyze the viability of international collaborations and address how they move from film to television, the stories they want to tell, how they are finding new creative talents and what is their secret to connecting with audiences.

With the assistance of Mauro García, president of BRAVI; Leonardo Edde, producer of Urca Filmes; Gustavo Mello, producer of Boutique Filmes; and João Roni, Producer/Partner – Head of Content of Ocean Film.

Content consumption has changed at all levels and football is no exception. New audiences have acquired a habit capable of defining the success or failure of a content through scrolling. LaLiga, LaLiga Studios (the production company created with Banijay) and Little Spain have embarked on the adventure of writing a new football story that is capable of attracting fans, haters and sceptics.

A fiction within the universe of LaLiga and its IP, in which the line between reality and fiction is blurred and where current themes are touched upon with a fresh and intrepid tone.

The speakers at the conference Changing football stories – Building a fiction between LaLiga, LaLiga Studios and Little Spain, will share the objectives, strategy and reasons behind this story. Anastasia Llorens, Head of Advertising, Branded Content & Media at LaLiga (Spain), will participate; Chalo Bonifacino Cooke, CEO of LaLiga Studios (Spain); Cristina Trenas, co-founder and executive producer of Little Spain (Spain); and Santos Bacana, co-founder and creative director of Little Spain (Spain).

Women in the audiovisual industry

The round table Women in the audiovisual industry: time of opportunity. Panoramic Spain, Mexico, Argentina, will present studies on female participation in the audiovisual sector in Spain, Mexico and Argentina, which calls for a greater presence of female professionals and points out the positive impact on the industry, providing new narratives and approaches.

The activity is part of the Nebrija Chair – EGEDA – Platino Educa in Cinema, Women and Education (CIMUED). Mercedes Herrero, researcher at Nebrija University (Spain), Cristina Ángeles, researcher at the CIMUED Chair (Mexico), Sabrina Farji, director of the OIA Observatory (Argentina) and Rocío Gago, researcher at the CIMUED Chair, will participate. Under the moderation of Marta Saavedra, director of the CIMUED Chair.

The SEGO Creative session

This is an opportunity to boost private investment in the audiovisual sector, clarifying what investors are looking for, what they offer and how to present projects to the Sego Creative platform, through the agreement between EGEDA and the financial group Sego Finance.

This initiative has allowed the cultural and creative industry to connect with a community of more than 40,000 investors, facilitating access to private financing for a multitude of audiovisual projects. Jesús Prieto, Head of Regulatory Compliance at EGEDA; and Javier Villaseca, CEO of Sego Finance will be the panelists, among others.

The FIPCA panel

Presenting the conference: Tax incentives and cash rebate in Latin America will focus on financing the audiovisual sector in the Ibero-American region. FIPCA producers will present cash rebate cases from Latin America, while ICEX – Invest in Spain will detail tax incentives in Spain and aid for co-production.

The specialists will present the possibilities and challenges that these mechanisms offer to audiovisual producers, emphasizing how they can benefit and enhance the film industry in Latin America.

With the participation of a representative of ICEX – Invest in Spain; Hans García, member of FIPCA (Dominican Republic) and producer of Perseo Films; Mariana Andrade, member of FIPCA (Ecuador) and president of COPAE; Leonardo Edde, member of FIPCA (Brazil); and Virginia Hinze, president of ASOPROD and producer of U Films (Uruguay). The talk will be led by Diego Ramírez, first vice president of FIPCA and producer of 64A Films (Colombia).

This is a space that Iberseries & Platino Industria 2024 will dedicate to US Hispanic content, with a high participation of international professionals working in the US for Spanish-language content, Georgina González, VP, Global Scripted Series at NBC Universal (Universal International Studios), wanted to express: “Being part of US Day really gives us the opportunity to explore innovative solutions together. I can’t wait to connect with the remarkable talent within the Ibero-American creative community.”
