Despite having 12 nominations, the Ibero-American productions and performers failed to return home with any wins from the 49th International Emmys. The full list of winners, up next.
This Monday, November 22, the Great Hall of Casa Cipriani in New York hosted the in-person gala of the 49th International Emmy Awards, awarded by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Led by actress and comedian Yvonne Orji, the ceremony presented a special award and a total of 11 statuettes.
And despite the fact that the Ibero-American talent arrived with a total of 12 nominations from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain and Mexico, they all left empty-handed.
The 11 winning shows and performances of these International Emmys spanned eight countries: France, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, China, Thailand, the UK and the US.
The most outstanding awards were for the Israeli series Tehran, chosen as Best Drama; the fourth season of the French series Call My Agent!, Best Comedy; and British performers David Tennant, Best Actor for his role as a serial killer in Des; and Hayley Squires, Best Actress for her role as a porn star in Adult Material.
Additionally, the documentary Hope Frozen: A Quest to Live Twice gave Thailand its first ever Emmy.
The International Directorate Emmy Award, meanwhile, went to Dr. Thomas Bellut, CEO of the German public broadcaster ZDF, one of the most important and recognized radio stations in Europe.
