The romantic comedy written, created and directed by Gustavo Taretto stars Naian González Norvind and Sebastián Buitrón
HBO announced the start of filming of its newest original production, Amsterdam. Directed by Gustavo Taretto, who also created and wrote the series, Amsterdam will have ten 30-minute episodes and will be filmed over thirteen weeks in Mexico and Uruguay, under the appropriate health measures required.
The series follows the story of Nadia y Martín, who are trying to make it in the art scene in La Condesa, one of Mexico City’s trendy neighborhoods. They love each other, but things aren’t working out, so they decide to separate amicably and divide their belongings in a civilized way. The only thing they are unable to reach an agreement about is Amsterdam, the dog they rescued from the streets long ago. The solution is joint custody. Actors Naian González Norvind and Sebastián Buitrón bring the couple to life.
“I am immensely happy to be telling this story about the encounters and misunderstandings of love together with such talented and visionary people like Gustavo Taretto. It’s a first-class team and I think the series will be a reflection of that quality,” said Naian González Norvind.
“The series explores the depths and the mundane details about a street, about their friends and about love that shows signs of uncertainty. About a dog that accompanies two human beings going through difficult times. I am happy to bring the scenes to life via the character of Martin. A person anchored to music, with a transparent spirit. I perceive synthesis and simplicity on the part of Gustavo and the entire team,” added Sebastián Buitrón.
“Amsterdam is a romantic comedy, with which we embrace a new genre in Latin America, offering viewers a fresh and lighthearted story with the same quality of the HBO original productions in the region,” commented Tomas Yankelevich, Chief Content Officer of General Entertainment at WarnerMedia Latin America. “We are very pleased to start this new production and we count on the talent of Gustavo Taretto as creator, director and screenwriter of the series. We look forward to seeing the first images of this wonderful story.”
Amsterdam includes executive production from Luis F. Peraza, Roberto Rios, Paul Drago and Gabriela Remirez for HBO Latin America, and Hernán Musaluppi, Natacha Cervi, Santiago López, Diego Robino and Sandino Saravia on behalf of Cimarrón Cine.
